Cribs

We have our family coming down with us in Oct and my niece said that her 2 year old DS won't sleep in a pack in play and needs a crib.

A few years ago we asked for a crib and it was a metal one with a very noisy plastic mattress. Everytime DD moved around, it sounded like she was rolling on a pile of bags.

Are they still the same ones? My niece is having an anxiety attack because she thinks her DS won't sleep anywhere but a crib. Frankly, I think he'll be so exhausted, he'll fall asleep before they get back to the room.

I don't know what WDW supplies now - I thought they were pack 'n plays. However, if you do need to be certain of getting a crib, there is a place called A Baby's Best Friend that rents locally. I think the website is www.abbf.com and I know for sure they rent full sized cribs. They will pick up and deliver. HTH! :flower:

ABBF worked great for us and the crib was super easy to put together, it took no time at all to pack and unpack.

We're in the same boat. My boys HATE pack-n-plays and are too big for port-a-cribs, so I'm hope we can get TWO full sized cribs. I'd gladly take a metal one with a noisy mattress over a pack-n-play, so if you don't want it, you can send it over to us :)

Her DS may FALL asleep before they get to the room, but will he STAY asleep? In a PnP, my guys would wake up at 11, 12:30, 1, 3:15, 4:45, etc and we'd be MISERABLE. Not exactly how I want to spend my vacation!

And before someone suggests it, I really don't want to pay ANOTHER $150+ to get cribs delivered from somewhere offsite. I think I'll try to put them both in the other bed with bedrails on 3 sides first.

Where will you be staying? I know the Polynesian offers cribs and I imagine some or all of the other deluxes do too.

However, they are not full size cribs. Typical hotel size instead.

Don't most 2 yos switch to beds? Boy, mine did. It actually seemed safer to me because both my boys could climb out of the baby bed. I know that doesn't help you but I was just curious?

I'm not sure if you are asking me or the OP, but I'll answer.

We're at the Beach Club. I keep hearing of others that were quite put out at being offered a full size metal crib. Personally, I'd jump at a full sized metal crib vs. either a pack and play or a port-a-crib.

My boys are currently 19 months. They will be barely 22 months at the time of our trip. Right now they are happy in their cribs and do not try to climb out. I would be out of my mind to move them to toddler beds since that means I'd have two toddlers getting out of bed and running up and down the hall all night. Maybe it is okay with just one kid, but I plan to keep my two in the crib for as long as I can!

It was just a general question on my part. Not a criticism of any sort. Every child and family is different. In your boat, I would sure have them in cribs, too. I was just wondering how many prople prefer to keep toddlers in cribs past two or so. Plus there is a huge difference between a 19 mo and say a 30mo.

My older son started crawling out of his crib well before he was two but he was so active. I get tired remembering it. Luckily he was my first so keeping him safe was easier. My second son is 2 years younger and has Down Syndrome but was still very active. When he started crawling out, I moved him to a bed too.

Truly, just wondering what young moms are doing these days. My youngest is 19! :earseek:

I'm surprised that BC has full size metal cribs. I wonder if they are the typical hotel size which is bigger than a portacrib or packnplay but smaller than a full size baby bed. I certainly preferred those in hotels when mine were babies.

Twins...must be fun as well as a challenge. I always hoped for twins! :sunny:

We are staying at the BWV and that's where we got the metal cribs. My niece's son is a big kid and will not sleep in a PNP so the abbf.com sounds great for her. My only question is will the crib fit in the room with the pullout couch open? They have a 6 year old DD and she needs a bed too.

Any experience with the crib & the pull out?

Hi. Just wanted to ask if the problem with the the little ones being willing to sleep in the pack 'n plays was size related or that the "mattress" was too hard? On our last trip my youngest was 18 months and he slept well in the pack 'n play only because I brought along a piece of foam I got from a fabric store (about 1 - 2" thick) cut to the pack 'n play's size. I had to bring along my own sheet I made to fit the mattress with the foam on top. (I cut down an extra full size crib sheet) It worked like a charm! Of course this wouldn't work for a baby, it would be a SIDS risk. Just thought I'd mention what worked for us in case it could help one of you. Good luck!
