We regularly get postings here regarding the use of credit and debit cards in the US, and I for one am very happy with my Nationwide card as it doesn't incur a foreign currency handling charge.

For those of you with other cards there is an article posted today on the Motley Fool website that might be of interest. It compares the charges of the major banks and building societies to show how much extra you might be paying. In the case of the Halifax, spending £1000 on a debit card and making two £100 cash withdrawals would cost you a stonking £81!

Definitely worth a read if you're planning to use your cards abroad.
