Credit Card Purchase Return issues

Hey guys, not sure what to do but wait i guess?

Anyways, i made a big purchase 2 weeks(June 21st) ago... about a week(July 3rd) after that, the item broke. I took the item back to get an exchange but because they no were currently out of stock. I got a credit back pending the same day(July 3rd) and it processed successfully July 6th.

I ended up heading to the same store in a different city to find the same item available, so i made a purchase on July 3rd. I took it home, only to find out it was also a faulty unit. I returned it on July 5th.

Now the problem is that its been 2 days has pasted and nothing is showing up on my credit card statement online. 99% of the time, transactions will pend and i can see it on my list on pending list but the credit back on July 5th is non-existent. I called my credit card company and they said that they show no records of any credit backs since the last one on July 3rd. I went to the store to see whats going on and they said that they said that its been credited already...

Now what? Should i wait another week? Back charge the purchase? TIA
 
I'd call both places (store and credit card), speak to an actual person, get their name, in the case of the credit card ask if they can make a note in your file... then wait a few more days and keep calling if nothing has changed. They do tell you typically that it can take up to 10 days for refunds to post. Your first one posted quickly but in my experience they won't do much until that time frame has passed.
 
Do refunds show for you as pending? I've never had my bank show a refund as pending. It just pops up as cleared one day. That being said, I've had some take one day and some take ten days. Remember too that you took it back Saturday. I know with my bank, everything over the weekend doesn't clear until either Monday or Tuesday, and refunds take even longer.
 
I had something similar happen to me at both Kmart and JCPenney's. I now make sure to keep my return receipt showing the credit, because it ended up I had to send the credit card company a copy of it. Somehow it "disappeared" from the stores records.

But given that it's a holiday, I would wait a few more days before I contacted them.
 

Did you use Amex? They are hit or miss regarding pending charges and can take 2-5 days to fully process transactions.
 
It can take 1-10 business days for a refund to be processed to your card, depending on many factors.

I would give it another couple of days and call the card issuer and ask if they see a credit pending for your account.

Weekend transactions usually won't post until Tuesday night at the earliest.

Does the company process adjustments daily?

(This is part of my job so I'm familiar with this kind of stuff :thumbsup2)
 
If you have a receipt showing the refund, I would just sit tight. With the holiday, it might just take a bit longer to show up.
 
Did you receive a receipt that shows the refund? If you did, then the store has processed it and that is what their records (in store) will show. To them they have done their jobs and it is out of their hands.

Since you returned it on a holiday weekend (3 days were I would expect nothing from a bank/CC company to process), I would give it up to 7 business days before worrying too much. It can take anywhere from 1-10 business days in most cases. As of right now it has been 2. So stop calling everyone and give it some time.
