Hello

This is our first time staying with our DVC at OKW and was wondering a quick charging question? Usually when you stay with the length of stay passes you use that card like a cedit card. What do you use for the card when in the parks and around? Are the room cards linked some how?

Thanks we are arriving on the 9th to the 18 can not wait

thanks

If you choose to purchase the Ultimate Park Hopper (aka length of stay pass), it will be encoded to your DVC resort ID. (Don't forget DVC members get a 10% discount on these tickets). If you want to also use that same card to charge things back to your DVC room, you can do that, too. The CM will set this up when you check in.

There are a few places that are not set up to charge back to your room. For example, soem of the carts in the parks. Also, places like Jellyrolls (they're not owned by Disney).

I am using Hopper passes so that is my question. How will I be able to charge in the parks or just use my Master Card?

Thanks

You can set up your Resort ID/room key to charge things in the parks even if you do not have passes on them. THe CM will ask you for a credit card at check in. They will not actually charge your credit card until your purchases/charges reach a certain level. I think that limit is $1500 for the DVC resorts, but am not sure. You can ask at check in. You'll get a nice printout when you check out that lists all of the items you've charged. Or you can ask to see the printout at any time during your stay.

Bottom Line: You do not have to buy LOS passes to be able to have your your resort ID/room key set up to charge things back to your room.

You can also put a fixed amount of money on your room key using cash, travelers checks, or a credit card. You then will be authorized to use the room key as a "credit card" (more like a debit card) up to the fixed amount.

Doctor P's right. You can also include in his list of things to put down on your card "Disney Dollars."

Another nice thing about using your room key to charge, instead of your debit/credit card - there's only -one- entry to your card, usually applied on the day of checkout. If you're using a debit card, this saves several pages of bank statements - at least in my case! :)
