Creative ways to give cash

another idea is to tape a number of bills together and use them to replace tissues in a tissue box. Tape a tissue or 2 to the first bill.

DS got a small gift of $1 at church (the prize for a game, really).
It started out looking like a semi-large object, each layer was wrapped differently (ribbons, butcher paper, newspaper, tin foil, several rubber bands, plastic wrap, gift wrap, plastic grocery bag, etc.)
The kids in our junior youth group sat in a circle and took turns (carefully!) unwrapping one layer at a time. This went on for over half an hour, so many layers - they went around the circle several times taking turns. DS had the last layer and so got the $1.
Even though it was done with 6-8 kids, I think it would be a fun way to wrap money or a small gift for one person.

1) We have done the dollar-bill thing listed by ncmickeyluvr
. . . ordered singles from the bank two weeks ahead of time
. . . put 15,000 into each big box. . . gave one box to each daughter
2) We have also done
. . . gift cards
. . . checks
. . . store gift certificates
3) This year for cash, we have decided to do a scavenger hunt
. . . we have ordered several American Express gift cards
. . . we are giving each child and grandchild their own clues
. . . if they stumble onto someone else's envelope, they can't touch it

If you gave me $15,000 for Christmas or any gift, I would not care one bit how you gave it to me. Check, ones, quarters or even pennies.

WOW, I wish someone would give me $15,000! :scared1:

One year I made some quarter pounders. I got the boxes, bags, and buns from McDonalds. I used elmer's glue to glue a roll of quarters onto a hamburger size cardboard cut out and folded bills for the lettuce on the buns and wrapped them in the boxes and placed in the bags. I then handed them out to a very puzzled group of teens. They still talk about them and say how they just love to get quarter pounders.

I was looking for something neat for nephews for this year. This is great. I cant wait to try it.

Is there any chance you are looking to adopt? If so, I am available! :cool1:

$15,000 for each kid is one heck of a Christmas present! :worship:

My favorite is the "pirate's treasure" where you fill a little treasure chest with $1 coins to look like treasure.

I've also seen dollar bills taped end to end to make a very long ribbon. It was kind of cute to see the recipient keep pulling and pulling and pulling.

Ok, most of those suggestions are great for kids and teens, but what about adults? We are giving the in-laws 2 tickets to their local theater to see any show in 2011. We've already sent them a Christmas card, plus we won't see them until Dec. 27, so didn't really just want to put the tickets in another generic card. Any suggestions on how to jazz up that gift?

It wasn't at Christmas, but for my high school graduation my parents gave me the book "Oh, The Places You Will Go!" which is a fabulous book for teens headed off to college. I unwrapped it and thought it was a nice, but then a friend of the family insisted that I read it aloud to the party. In between each of the pages of the book were $100 bills. Needless to say all my friends were freaking out. It was quite exciting and fun.

I love this! I will have to remember this when DD graduates. This is perfect!

My parents gave me, DH, my sister and BIL those money mazes last year and we had a blast opening them. It was a fierce competition to see who got theirs open first, and I won. So much fun, and they are completely reusable, so it's not a one-time investment.

Last year we gave theater tickets along with dinner to the DIn-laws. Tickets were to see Lion King. I attached the tickets, playbill, seating chart, menu, and a certificate that I made on the computer explaining what the gift was. I attached this all to a longgg ribbon the other end of the ribbon was attached to a ballon. It was all wrapped in a large box. So, when the box was opened the balloon popped out and everything else was right at eye level. It was perfect. My Mother In-Law cried like a baby. Now my problem this year is "how do I top that."
Or, you can fan out the advertisments for some of the shows they can choose from. If you can get your hands on the Playbills that would be even better. Along with a seating chart. And in the center of them put the tickets/cert. Then you can wrap it all in a shirt box.
As for movie tickets. I have taped them to a box of their favorite candy and wrapped them that way.

For my 21st birthday, my Aunt found a green styrofoam cone (from a craft store), and some green pipe cleaners. She taped 21 dollar bills on the pipe cleaners then stuck the pipe cleaners in the cone. The card said something about "money really does grow on trees".

She also taped 21 condoms on and made it a "rubber" tree.:rotfl:

The thread about wrapping restaurant . com certificates made me think of this thread. HTH.

If you have a ceiling fan, you could place the money on top of the blades and then at the gift giving moment, turn on the fan and the money goes flying everywhere!
