Creative budget way to package Legos?

My 9yo wanted Legos for Christmas, but he doesn't like sets, he just likes free play. He already has the ones that come in the plastic tubs from the store so I got him a couple lots of assorted Legos from ebay. Does anyone have any creative budget ideas of how I could package them so they look better?

The first thing that came to my mind was to buy a big yellow bucket and paint it like a lego person's face. That way it's cute AND storage.

That's cute! I'd probably have to do the face free hand, but I think I could. And the kids would be so excited that I bought cheese puffs in a big container like that, lol.

Love this DIY idea! If you've got more money and are less crafty, they sell similar containers at Target.

I got a 3 drawer lego case at Target but you could probably get it cheaper of DIY. What I like about it is that it has smaller sections inside (almost like a tackle box) to sort the smaller pieces.

I got so sick of searching through big bins for the teeny tiny pieces at the bottom!!
