Hi all,

We are considering going to Disney World for my son's second birthday. We'd also have a 4 month old along with us. Is that just a crazy idea? Anybody do something similar and not have an awful time?

We are planning to do plenty of future trips as well so this wouldn't be their one and only trip to Disney.

Thanks for your thoughts!

We took our little one when he was 4 months old and he was easy. Slept, nursed and hung out in the carrier most of the time. Doing that at the same time as having a 2 year old....not sure. Heck, I probably would, lol. How's your 2 year old? How is your baby? Depends on the kids on whether I would definitely chance it.

Yep, easy, the 4 month old anyway!

I've taken a 4 month old and a 3 year old and will be taking a 5 month old this fall along with a 6 & 3 year old. Babies that don't move & don't eat real food are super easy to travel with. I just did a lot of baby wearing, nursed all over and took breaks as needed.

I took my son when he was two months old and he was so easy! Just slept in the carrier most of the time. I also nursed so I didn't worry about having to carry any bottles/food with us. Only downfall was that it was still really hot. Hoping for cooler weather on our next trip because I worried about the little one in the heat.

I took my almost 3 year old and 4 month old a few years ago. I realize that 2 years 11 mos can be a big difference from your 2nd birthday child, but thought I'd share anyway. We had planned the vacation just before we new there'd be an infant in the mix! I also had a 6 year old and my sister and DH along. I thought it was great - maybe kind of a blur in my memory (I get bad "mommy brain" in those early months even if I'm just sitting at home!) But I actually kind of enjoyed having to take my nursing breaks in the lovely and quiet child care centers.

My "Park Commando" sister could never have been the mommy on the slow pace, but she and DH and the 6 y.o. did their best to really tackle the parks and I was generally at the slower pace of the baby and toddler. I still got to ride plenty of rides (taking turns for thrill rides, rode all the slow/dark rides together).

As long as you know this isn't a once in a lifetime visit, and are willing to go the slow pace, there are things I really LIKED about not being in a race to "get it all done"

Enjoy!

Not that you can't still have fun, but we took DS to Disneyland at 8 months (just for one day) and I felt like I spent most the day breastfeeding and changing diapers and didn't get to enjoy much park time. It was still just fun to be in the atmosphere, but had we had a toddler with us I would have missed out on seeing all those special firsts while busy taking care of the baby (DS was a very slow eater). When we took DS to WDW for his 2nd birthday it was awesome and he loved everything, I was glad to get to share in every moment.

That being said, we have to go in November for a reunion and DS will be just over 3 and we will have a 4 month old with us and I wish they could move it a year out, but they can't. It is just a quick weekend in Disneyland, but I know I will miss out on things during feeding and changings :( I haven't met this baby yet, but hopefully he or she is easy going and a fast eater ;)

We were in CA visiting friends and decided to do DL for the day bc who knows when we will be there again. I had a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old.
It was the trip that made me a Disney addict. Seeing my DD light up ... I knew she wasn't too young for Disney!
I say do it; just Don't expect to be a park commando. We were at the much smaller DL and we still barely made it out of fantasyland! She wanted to ride the teacups 500x. Lol.
Especially since you know you are going again- we only saw fireworks once with our kids at MK (when they were 3 & 13mos) because we
Know we can see fireworks when they are older... We know they will get wrecked if we Go go go. My DD still talks about the bowling pin pool at the pop century as one of her favorite parts!!

We also spent a lot of time meeting characters. To me this is one of the most magical parts for little ones and they will grow out of it too fast! Plus waiting for someone like the FG gave me time to sit and nurse while my husband waited in the line :)

Anyway, have fun!

Sounds great to me, we took my sons for our eldest's 3rd baby our youngest was only 4 months too. We had an amazing trip and have some amazing photos of our boys meeting all the characters, they all loved the baby and he just smiled at them like they were giant teddy bears.

We just booked our flight yesterday, we will be taking our kids who will be 10 years old, 2 years 8 months old, and a five(ish) week old!! I'm pretty sure we are crazy but with the deal we got on airfare we just couldn't pass it up! I hope to be nursing the newborn and just be carrying him in the ergo most of the time. I'm just so excited to get my older 2 kids there. My daughter has only been once when she was 3 and it was just a day trip to Magic Kingdom while visiting family in Tampa. My son and husband have never been. I assuming it won't be the most relaxing vacation but I know we will have fun!

We are also going with a 2 y/o and 4 month old in December. I think I just need to resign myself to not seeing and doing everything - I am a commando type by nature and will struggle with going at a slower pace. Really hoping the new baby is good with nursing in a carrier - at that age my son was nursing all the time.

So happy to have found this thread. Our daughter's first trip was right before she turned 2 and it was pure delight. I wouldn't trade that trip for anything. We're headed back this December and will have a 5 month old. I've been a little worried about how that is going to work out, but all these posting with 4 month olds gives me courage. We go about once a year, so I'm not worried about missing out on things. I'm more worried about the crowd scenario because it will be over New Years. I've seen photos of that time of year and I thought I would never agree to that, as much as I love Disney. However we're attending a wedding..so off we go!
