So it officially opens the 28th of May. I am seriously thinking about adding another day to our trip because my daughter so wants to ride it. Already promised DH we would skip next year. So it is this trip on 2 years from now.

Do they typically do soft openings? How do they work? We have 2 MK days scheduled (May 23 and May 27th). If there is a chance of riding it before hand, then might not add the day.

I was able to get a dinner reservation for CP on the 28th, so went ahead and booked that just in case.

You are asking the wrong person about extra nights! I would book an extra in a heartbeat if I could make the budget work, so if you can swing it, go for it! Honestly, there will be more to do than that one train ride, so think about other things you would manage to accomplish.

i don't know much about soft openings, but I can say that when we were in Disney there was a lot of FLE going on, but we were able to go in and go on some of the attractions. For us, it was a very nice preview of what was to come!

In the days leading up to the "official" opening, I'd say your chances at hitting a soft opening are very, very good.

As far as adding another night goes, I guess I'd look at it like this: is being there to ride this one new ride worth what it will cost you to stay? (And that's all costs considered--hotel, tickets, food.) For me, it wouldn't be. For others, perhaps it would.

Define crazy. . . LOL
I takes a lot less than that to get me to add a day - the answer for me would be that once I did the add-on and then if I got to ride it anyway on a soft opening, would it make me twice as happy to ride again or would regret (neg consequences?) come into play? :goodvibes Enjoy!!

I would not add the extra day. You will almost certainly get to ride via soft opening. But 2 years is not a long wait at all.

I would do it without a thought! However, we drive to WDW, so there wouldn't be plane tickets to change. The other consideration would be your tickets--how many days do you have now? You can't add a day to a 10-day ticket, so that would add a lot to the cost as well.

I don't think it's crazy at all! If you can easily add a night, do it

a guy that works for an airline company. He flew to Nova Scotia to watch the final take off of a particular aircraft type.

I don't think you are crazy.

If your budget isn't an issue, I definitely say go for it!! You only live once, right.. I'm throwing the idea around myself about adding one more day, just trying to convince DH..

I'd do it if it's in your budget. Two years is a long time to wait if you could just do it now!

Absolutely do it if your budget allots this day. This extra day is more bonding time, more happiness, more vacation, so not only is the mine train the icing but you get a big piece of cake too.

Thanks All! Just needed some validation :lmao: from those that could relate. We drive so no issue there; 6 to 7 day tickets again not a biggie. Hotel room is the part that I was having to justify.

I would leave it up in the air. I would plan to stay, but if the soft opening works out, then go home as scheduled. I'd add on in Disney at the last minute. (Unless you really care about the possibility of being somewhere else for that night)
