I am thinking of taking my granddaughter to Universal this coming Thanksgiving...Arrive Wednesday evening and go back home on Sunday....I know the rates for that time will be sky high...I plan to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel (I've stayed there in the past..this will be her first time to go to Universal)...Should I be trying to make reservations now....? Or, do you think I should wait and see if there would be any remote possibility of any specials during Thanksgiving? Should I get an annual pass for myself?...or AAA? What do you suggest? :confused3

go ahead and make ressies NOW! Check for APH and AAA discounts if there are any. If you book on the internet you dont have to have a APH yet and there is no deposit. this makes for a much easier time of changing rates later on if they become avail. ( I cant remember if you have to have your AAA # for an online reservation or not! ) I think its great that you are going into your ressies prepared to pay rack rate! I always think any discount is just icing on the cake ;)

How old is your GD? You might want to check out the online ticket specials at universal right now. I believe I remember someone saying that the tickets would be avail until June. ( please correct me if I am wrong you guys! :) )

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the information...I am so used to DISNEY..even though I have been to Universal a couple of times...it is still so new to me...Should I go on the Loew's site to book? My granddaughter is 13.

I have seen the Meal Deal site, too..and think that would be a good investment.... :lmao:

We're going the same time and the rates are a lot higher than we are used to ($224/RPR & $253/HRH standard room AAA rate). We are used to going in October or December and these are the rates I have paid for club level. But we are going standard this time because of the cost.

I haven't booked yet because I don't want to pay the deposit until we return from our May trip. I wasn't aware that you didn't have to pay the deposit online :confused3 . But I don't mind paying in advance because it's less for me to pay when I arrive.

I'm hoping the rates lower a little by the time we go.

I have to recommend Thanksgiving dinner at the Kitchen. I'm still full!
