Crazy experience at It's a Small World

Apples never fall far from their trees.. and if mom and dad were not stopping it but encouraging it.. that answers everything....:sad2: It's a sad, wierd world after all.

I am not going to pretend to be self righteous. When I was 12 this was the kind of dumb crap I found funny as well. So I can't really fault the kids. Children are mischievious by nature. Even baby animals do stuff just to cause trouble.

However, I will say one thing this is the kind of dumb stuff I had to sneak away to do. Even today it would scare me to know in to tell my dad some of the dumb stuff I did. He might still woop me for some of it.

It scares me to death to think that these kids found it appropriate to do this while their ??????? were present. (?????=There isn't really a word to fit these people Parent, Grown up, Guardian, Adult all do not seem appropriate.)

Just think of what they must being doing behind their parents back? :scared1:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe IASW is one of the few or perhaps the only attraction that is not monitored. It was never monitored, even after the refurbishment.

Can someone confirm this? In this day and age of lawsuits, and surveillance cameras everywhere, I wonder how they would know to stop the ride, if there was an accident on IASM. :confused3

All I can say to this is I would never give Disney more money than I needed too. LOL

You dont desecrate Disney (attractions) like that. I would have taken it upon myself and said something. I dont care if they liked it or not.

I could see if they threw the coins in the water. but to throw the coins actually trying to aim at things on purpose?

ignorant fools.

Just when you think you have seen it all. Those are some naughty kids, and some really lousy parents. What on earth made them think to do that? :confused3 The family obviously planned to do it, as the mom had a roll of coins. :headache:

What about the time we saw a father helping his young son who was standing on the grass near Living Seas with his pants down and urinating onto the lawn while his mother took pictures?

No wayYYYY? ewwww.

sick.

Then again... I remember reading a story (right here on the DIS) about Roy Disney, Jr. Outside of the Beauty and The Beast stage show at Disney Hollywood Studios (at the time MGM) a fellow DISer saw him and went to shake his hand, Roy was smoking a ciggarette and motioned to the guest to wait one moment, he then took another drag of his cig and flicked it - threw the ciggarette:scared1: then kindly shook his hand.

lol it made me laugh, and I was thinking Uncle Walt is turning in his grave!!!

Not very Disney like.

I didn't read all the comments but I'll never forget the time that we were on Snow White.. (at least I think it was Snow White.. three rows of benches?) there was a family of 4 (two munchkins and two adults) and the two us.. We were seated in the front.. and we offered the family of four the front two rows up front so the kids could see.. we offered to sit in the back row... the parents refused multiple times while the kids just looked.. well.. sad... mostly because they jumped at the chance and their parents told them no.

So it was us in the front, the kids behind us and then the parents in the back.

The kids were so quiet and so well behaved... I almost felt bad for them..

The parents talked business through the whole ride.. LOUDLY.

So, sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree.. gives me hope for the next generation.

Makes you just want to lean forward & smack them doesn't it???:lmao:
That is strange behavior but maybe they just don't have respect for things. Unfortunately there are alot of people out there that let their kids act like this-if they do this in WDW can you imagine what they do at home???:confused3

In response to the poster who was so offended by the OP's DH taking the videos - did you even watch the videos? The girls are in no way identifiable on the videos. I could know them and not recognize them on those videos. I really cannot imagine being offended by that. :confused3

That is the craziest thing I have seen ever happen at a Disney park. Those girls were really hurling those coins. :sad2:

I thought about telling the CM at the end of the ride, but from everything I've read on here, I was pretty sure it wouldn't do any good.

Depends on what you'd have wanted them to do. It's not like Disney is going to follow the family and make sure they behave themselves. They're not going to try and hunt them down at some other attraction, KWIM? But the ride CMs would have probably appreciated knowing what the kids were throwing coins AT inside the ride so that they could note it on their daily report and have maintenance check those areas that night to be sure there was no damage.

I'm a firm believer in karma. Hopefully, they'll come upon a place and time where they need a few extra dollars for tolls or something and they'll realize that they left all their change at "Small World!"

:earsboy:

I can't believe that... especially that no one said anything to them.

When we visited and rode IASW in 2005, my oldest DS was 8. He had never been to WDW before and his Dad and I had told him with great excitement about IASW. In the first 30 second or so of the ride my DS was very excited and was talking to DH and I quietly, but loud enough for us to hear him over the music how pretty it was, colorful, etc and a GROWN WOMAN shushed him. She SHUSHED an enthusiastic 8 yr old for being excited on a WDW ride. Its the same song over and over, what was she trying to hear?? I was so angry but bit my tongue. Looking back I should've spoken up for my son, but I won't make that mistake again.

If my child can't even TALK on IASW but others can throw coins and vandalize.... that's just messed up!

I can not believe the actions of those children and the parents all but condoned it.... I would have mentioned something to the CM that was there....

I mean Disney spends alot of money refurbing these rides and they do not need people doing things to damage or shut down a ride.....

just my two cents...:grouphug:

:confused3 There must be something about EPCOT because last March we were walking through the parking lot and saw a GROWN MAN split from his party right before we got to the entrance. He stood between two cars and relieved himself right there!! When he was done, he walked right back up to his wife and held her hand. Ewwwww :scared: (I guess I should just be glad she wasn't taking pics like the Mom you saw :sad2: )

Maybe people think of the fountains in FW and just can't help themselves....:rolleyes1

and then they put their fingers in the scanner and so do we.. double ewwww:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm not condoning this, but...
I read somewhere that they do such a good job cleaning the magic kingdom that if you put a penny somewhere (like on the top of a bathroom stall wall), the Disney custodians will find it because they clean so thoroughly.

It makes me wonder if they did it at several rides "just to see" if they were there the next time. Gads, I hope not, but it may be a disney urban myth gone very, very, reaaaalllly wrong.

Or, they may just be self-important brats.
