Crazy car prices!

I need to rent a car for a terrible itinerary! Originally renting from National at MCO on Monday 3/11 at 8pm, drop off Friday 3/15 at 8pm. With KLM code and one free day in my Emerald Club account, rate was about $188. Changed arrival flights so need to pick up car at 2:30pm, but couldn't use the free day when I rebooked as it was used in the previous rental, which changed the rental cost to $212. OK, I can live with this, as there are NO discount coupons available for a rental of less than a week without a Saturday night stayover. Once I canceled the original reservation (with the free day) and tried to modify the new one to include the free day, the rate went up OVER $100! I am glad I modified, and I know better than to cancel one before making another, but seriously... over $100 MORE to include the free day instead of not use it?

Honestly, if this wasn't a short trip with an audition day smack in the middle of it (which shortens our park time), I'd skip the car altogether, but having it will minimize our travel times and let us make the most of our limited park days!

Try using hotwire.com. I booked and paid ahead roughly a month before and paid about $220 for a full sized car for 8 days. WHen I initially tried the first quote I got a few months before was over $600! My parents booked there's two weeks before and got their car for under $200.
