I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE WDWS BOTTOM LINE
. AND DIDNT I ADMIT THAT I MADE THE MISTAKE IN THINKING THIS YEAR WE WOULD GET AN EMAIL DISCOUNT?WHY AM I GETTING BASHED HERE?

ON A LIGHTER NOTE-GREAT CHOICE WITH VISTANA!!! YOU WILL LOVE YOUR STAY:D THE POOLS ARE AWESOME!HAVE FUN!:sunny:

I was Sales Manager at a radio station for many years. We were selling air time (advertising) to businesses. We had our standard rationale why a business should buy radio time instead of other advertising. One big competitor was coupons. Businesses LOVE coupons because they can tell exactly whether or not they are working. Do a direct mailing and someone responds? Direct mail works! However. My rationale for not using coupons for advertising was this: Usually with coupons, you are not getting new customers. You're getting your REGULAR customers back at a discount. Why would a smart business owner do that? It's true, and lots of my customers agreed. I think Disney is aware of that and is more interested in "rewarding" loyal customers with great service and lots of magic rather than rewarding them by giving them back some of the money they would have spent on Disney anyway. What they want is people that they think may NOT be staying on Disney property. Or perhaps people who've stayed at a value resort that they hope will upgrade. That's happened to me twice. After staying at ASMu, about 7 months later I get the postcard for the moderates/AKL. I don't think complaining about not getting a postcard is going to help anything, though.

Off Topic:
This is a polite FYI, it is considered rude netiquette to type in all caps. It is considered shouting.

Many people will not read "shouting" posts because they are hard on the eyes.

Hi everyone! I know this postcard situation is frustrating. I myself go to Disney 1-3 times a year and I've gotten 1 postcard my entire life.

But, I'm also an ex-cast member and I worked in Marketing/Advertising. I worked there in 2000. My department actually creates the coveted postcards. And, I can tell you first hand that they are indeed sent out in a COMPLETELY RANDOM fashion. I promise. I investigated myself because I was curious, and wondered why I never got a postcard.

They do use the sifting scenario another poster described for other reasons but these postcards "ain't" one of them.

Pam......
Thanks for the info! Really...........THANKS! You have probably cleared up all the outstanding concerns/questions, but I seem to have one more! Do they just send them out at once, or are they staggered? In other words, since a bunch people have already gotten them, could there still be one coming for me.....if I am that lucky?

Mariamard,
You need to stop screaming, then people may look at your responses diffrently:rolleyes: .People have told you in a couple of threads and you do not seem to care that you are screaming:listen:

Disney is a business and they are owned by stockholders who expect those who run the company to make a profit. A business cannot make a profit if they give away their product or so deeply and frequently discount it that they minimize or eliminate their profit.

Disney cannot afford to give everyone who wants it a discount. If they did that, they would soon be out of business.

My dad taught me that life is not always fair, but I'd better get used to it. I keep that in mind when I hear about people getting postcards or email discounts (which I've never received either). I try to take the attitude of "Hooray for them!" and hope that one day I might share the magic -- but so far, not yet.

Who knows, though. Maybe my postcard is "in the mail!" :smooth:

im sorry . i just woke up. my explanation for writiing in caps for the last few months is that i am using one arm and its easier to lock in either caps or lower case. did you see that i have not typed anything since the first person to tell me ,"vickybaby",let me know that some people think that ia shouting?did i need to be told this by everyone? one post, the original by "vickybaby" was all i needed.

Welcome to the club! :jumping1:

I feel a little :o for all the years my DW and I visited WDW, stayed onsite and paid -- GULP! -- rack rate, because I didn't know about codes, discounts and such -- except for going during what was labeled as "Value" season.

After discovering the DISboards, I found out about codes and was amazed to save some bucks on Disney vacations.

I don't know which is worse -- the ignorance or the knowledge. It seems that the more you know about topics like this, the more you expect. Sometimes those expectations can be difficult to manage. We still visit WDW during "value" seasons, but now we also look for those codes to use. I just wonder if we'd be willing to pay rack rate again. :earseek: Maybe ... after all, for us WDW is worth it.

can this whole thread just end on a positive note???:D have a good day , all!

My mom, on the other hand, goes under my reservation, so therefore they don't really see her as coming to WDW that much, and she always gets a postcard. Why one earth would WDW try to draw people to them that they already have in the first place? They more then likely go after the ones they feel do not visit enough.

Well, why on earth did I get my one and only postcard when I was already booked and had already modified my ressie twice with codes? They more than had me, and they still sent me a postcard which then saved me $200 more dollars on top of the codes.

They more than likely have reasons you and I don't know about when sending out postcards or other offers.Maybe it was my lovely voice when speaking with CRO.:cutie:

Aisling--of course it was!!!!!! :teeth: ::yes:: That's why it is important to be sweet, lovely, and polite to the CRO CMs. You just never know what flag might get set.....

and I got a post card while I was on vacation in WDW. The point is that the cards are random. RANDOM. No one is a special character because they got one, and no one deserves one any more than any other WDW guest. So, if I were to get another one, I would count myself lucky. And if I don't, it isn't going to ruin my vacation.

The sense of entitlement here is amazing.
