My friend swears by nettie pot, me I am such a wimp when it comes to anything up my nose or in my eye!

Ewww... I have heard of nettie pot, but I don't think I could use it. I don't want to send anything up my nose. :scared:

I had two glasses of wine tonight and called my best friend in Alabama. We must have stayed on the phone for two hours. It was a great time. I have a little bit of a buzz now though and should probably go to bed since I have to work tomorrow. Bye!

Cristi - I bet you enjoyed catching up with your best friend. I am not a wine fan so I could never drink enough to get a buzz going! Hope you make it to work this morning. ;)

Selena, I have to tell you about this poor, poor woman from Scotland that we met this last vacation in Mexico. By day 2 her back was fully covered in mosquito bites. I mean 20 or 30 huge bites. Bless her heart. She managed to get through the vacation but it was awful. I managed to get bit twice. Just ask Heidi. I am a mosquito magnet. It pays to wear deet even if you think you are ok. Airborne......Ted and I take it right before boarding the plane and before we go to bed the first day. We also spray saline solution in our nose right before boarding. They say that if your nose membranes are moist that the little bacteria/bugs can't stick to anything. (sorry, don't know how to correctly say it) We have managed to stay well.

I have to book our trip to Costa Rica today. We have been trying to decide between two different weeks in May. Someone at Ted's work wants the week off that we don't take.

Sandy that was me after my birthday weekend over Labor Day. It was awful. I was fortunate enough that the bites were the last night so I had to deal with them for weeks at home. No looking back with huge cake like bites on my legs. I had shorts and a tee shirt on and the only place I was bit was on my legs. It was awful. I still can see one bite when I take a hot shower. It is like the heat brings out the redness in the area of the bite.

I will do what you do with the airbourne. I will probably ask you about both again prior to the trip. I have CRS.

Did you book? Tell us about the details.

Has anyone tried a nettie pot? I am having good results with it. It's a pot to clean out your sinuses with distilled water and the little salt packet. I joked to Aerial that you've never lived until you poor water in one nostril and watch it come out the other. :lmao:

I have not yet but my doctor has told me for 3 years to buy one. I am going to break down and do it soon. I was wondering though do you lean over the sink or do it when you take a shower?

Lean over the sink

Bryan is helping me pick out some running shoes that will do better with my foot type. :thumbsup2 I am so excited to be running again.

OMG, Selena. I have done the drunken chats on AIM. They are a hoot! A few of us on my first DIScruise has remained close and we use to call them wine chats. Haven't done them in awhile but they are fun. Maybe we should schedule one here.

Marcie, lean over the sink.....:rotfl2:

Cristi, you made me smile.

Heidi, two glasses of wine and I am buzzing, too.

Yes, we did book for May 9-16. I don't think this will be a water/beach/snorkle type vacation. I will copy and paste the tours we want to do:

PALO VERDE - National Park - RIVER Tour. RATED AS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR TOURSThe best tour to see wild life this time of year. Our secret for this tour…..we go where the big tour bus companies can’t. Up a very narrow part of the river where wild life is close up instead of having to use binoculars.

Palo Verde National Park is a wildlife sanctuary. Scientists from all over the world come to study this rich ecosystem that combines rivers, marshland, mangroves and dry forest. Our river cruise will take us on the Tempiski River, the most important in Guanacaste. You will admire the natural beauty of this park while looking for crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas and thousands of birds (over 300 species) that migrate to Palo Verde. Although the "Palo Verde River Tour" is done by many companies we have gone to great lengths to make this day’s excursion more than just a boat trip up a river. We access the river at a very narrow spot where the large tour buses can't enter. Here the river is narrow, so narrow the tides affect the times when we can access it. Our boats can now slip from side to side as we see wild life.....not with binoculars but face to face (as you can see in the pictures on the web site) as a white faced monkey hops on the boat to get a better look at the people inside.

After the tour is finished we now go to a carefully selected traditional Costa Rican restaurant where the food is still prepared on wood stoves. The comments about the food here almost out number the comments on the river tour.

After lunch we could follow the large tour buses to the "tourist souvenir warehouses" but we have selected to take you into Playa Del Coco. Just as much selection, better prices but with smaller shops, some still with dirt floors and more of a Costa Rican fishing village atmosphere. We also stop at our local grocery store where you can pick up some of our locally made hot sauces and coffee. To us it is all a matter of quality tours!

Arenal Volcano, Hot Springs & Rain Forest - RATED AS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR TOURS

This tour involves traveling through the Guanacaste mountain range and passing by local towns and small villages. We stop at the Las Pumas Wild Cat Refuge – Click on this site for a virtual view of the Wild Cat Refuge - http://homepage.mac.com/marketman2/Sites/gecr/vargas/shelter/index.html then continue on for lunch overlooking Lake Arenal. Upon arrival, you will enjoy mild temperature with great views of Arenal's lake and the exuberant vegetation of this area. Early in the afternoon, you will enjoy the Hot Springs at the base of the constantly erupting volcano with lava flowing down. The warmth of the flowing thermal mineral rivers and the surrounding tropical rain forest will make from this tour a unique experience!!! At night enjoy a delicious dinner while you wait for the volcano's magical night show. 3 hrs from the Papagayo area

Option D: Aerial Tram – Sky Trek (zip line)
the tour starts with a 30 minutes ride on the Sky Tram cableway (‘boxes’) this way you get a different perspective of the flora and fauna accompanied by a Costa Rican expert guide.
The Sky tram (‘boxes’) ends on a wide observation platform at the highest point of the Arenal Reserve. Here you can sit down in comfortable chairs and enjoy the magnificent view as long as you wish to admire the volcano, the lake, the mountain range and rain forest. You can continue your trip by taking one of our hiking trails which take around 30 minutes. From here there are two options to return to the main building – with the SkyTrek zip lines or on the Sky Tram.
The sky tram is a all age tour and suitable for people with some disability, thanks to the space of our gondolas which fit a wheelchair inside, without folding it. Duration: 15 hours

Llano de Cortez Waterfall & Liberia Shopping
The secluded Llanos de Cortez Waterfall spans 35ft high and 50 ft wide and cascades into a white sand pond. It is only a 1 hr drive from most of the Playa Hermosa, Coco, Ocotal and Playa Panama resorts. The falls drops into a freshwater pond rimmed by a gold-flecked, white sand beach and rich tropical vegetation. There, you can sunbathe, swim, drift over to stand directly under the falls. The tumbling water keeps the air cool and fresh, making it the perfect escape from the Guanacaste heat. Although Llanos de Cortés is well known to locals, the waterfall has never been part of established tours for visitors. So if you go, it is possible to enjoy this getaway in utter seclusion.

Lunch time! We are now off to Liberia for a typical Costa Rican meal and some shopping if you wish.

They have sunset cruises, all day and night cruises. I guess that dolphin sightings is a definite along with whales. Man, I tell you they have tons of tours land and water. It's hard to just pick a few. Ted said that we may need to go back. I am so happy that we booked yesterday. We were contemplating on two weeks and one of them was fully booked at the resort. My vacation club TA said that this resort is one of their most popular. She has been there and she said it is her favorite. The beach sand is not Caribbean white but is black sand and I believe due to the volcanoes. I guess they aren't pretty but feel wonderful to your feet.

Better get going. Hugs.:grouphug:

Bryan has been encouraging me to pick a race to run so I have a goal to shoot for. Of course the first place I looked was WDW. Well one of the only longer distance races of the year I can make, because of work is the Tower Of Terror nighttime 13k, October 24th. When I told Aerial she said she would take a trip to WDW for her 16th birthday, so I am thinking about taking her and Marci and running the race. That is 8 miles. :scared1: But, I have 10 months to train. Think I can do it?

I don't do wine much either, but we seem to have a bottle on hand in just in case. Brad had opened it over the weekend for a brine he was making and only used about a quarter cup so I decided I should have some and relax since I was a little irritated with the people that live in my house.

Selena, that little bit I typed took me quite awhile. I kept mis-spelling things and wanted to make sure I got it corrected so it didn't look like I was too buzzed. :)

lol I love wine but honestly, believe it or not, I do not drink much. I have not had anything to drink in almost 2 weeks BUT I am going out for Girl's Night Out (GNO) with a few friends tonight. Not sure if I am going to drink or not. Probably will have a drink. For me, I live a good 20-25 miles away and I really do not like driving and drinking. Plus in my county we have a large amount of license checks. Seems they occur near our house too!

Woo Hoo it is Thursday, after today, one more day and I have a 3 day weekend. Monday we are going on a diet. I am walking at least 2 miles 3 times a week. But the diet will help me get the extra 5lbs I am packing off my bum. I have lost a couple of pounds and that helps for things to fit me a bit better but they feel tight and I do not like the feel of tight clothes. UNCOMFORTABLE!

Anyway one have plans for the weekend? I have Zip! Nothing. The most exciting thing that will happen will be going to do the grocery shopping.

You can totally do it!!!! A few friends of mine just got done running the marathon at WDW that was last weekend. They ran for 5 hours....I could never do that. Their pictures are great. Their pictures are running in front of the castle, Mt. Everest, and Epcot. They did awesome. We will cheer you on!!!!! Maybe I can save up enough money and come cheer you on.

Have fun tonight!!!!! Chris's niece flew in last night to spend some time with us. She wanted to see snow (aka really means see my cousin who she danced with at my wedding). So today after work we are heading up to the mountains and taking her to a place called Glenwood Springs and swim in their outdoor pool while it is 20 degrees out! Then we are going to take her tubing, and then pick the girls up so they can spend some time with their cousin.

You girls are the best!!!! Heidi, I would love for you to be there!! I couldn't believe how excited Aerial was, she said she would take a trip to WDW over a gift. So, I am pretty positive we will go, unless I run into some financial problems. I fell asleep early last night and Bryan called and woke me up and in my barely remembering sleepy conversation I told him I picked my race. But, I didn't get to tell him much more, he told me to go back to sleep and we would talk today. It really won't be majorly (yea right), just long. You can do the miles up to 18 minutes and i'm back down to 16 minutes already.

Heidi, have fun with your neice, sounds fun.
