It is icky outside. I just got back from taking Rachel to school. I have to get Jacob up in a few minutes. It would be a great day to stay home all day, but I have to go to Sam's. We are out of a lot of stuff.

Jrsy, Sandy and Heidi, will you guys give me some tips to avoid mosquito bites? What to you? What not to use? What works? Punta Cana has a lot of mosquitos. I am a haven for them. They adore me like Vampires love blood, I am loved my mosquitos. I do not want the same thing to happen to me on our PC vacation as the last time we were at Myrtle Beach. HELP ME.

Eat a lot of garlic. When you sweat, you'll smell like an Italian restaurant, but the mosquitoes will leave you alone.

I didn't freeze, but I had a few extra pounds of snow stuck to me to haul over there. This snow obviously took everyone by surprise because no one was prepared for it. Even the light rail station hadn't been cleared and it usually is.

Selena, I am a magnet for mosquitos as well and also the no see um's in the sand. I have found 100% DEET in the sporting goods section of Target and Walmart. Small bottle for something like 4.50. Lots of money but worth it to me. Since I have started using it, I have come home without any no see um bites. Deet does a wonder on nicely polished toes though. Honestly, I have heard of the garlic trick as well.

Cristi, I need to go to Sam's, too. It will just have to wait. I heard the drive is horrible. Be careful.

Jrsy, I think the amount of snow did catch them off guard. They are now talking about 3-6 plus inches. It seems like Ted always gets out of shoveling!!!!

I am really enjoying Stacey's pictures and to seem them on a big screen and not a little cell phone makes them prettier. I have to have you post my favorite picture of Dad and I at Xcaret.

Selena, I am feeling bad. I forgot to thank you for your airport advice on Punta Cana. I know we will try it some day. I just think it has to wait so that we could fly in to let's say Charlotte, stay the night in a hotel, and then hop a plane to DR. And then do it again in reverse. It would add a couple of vacation days for Ted so retirement or around a holiday would be good. I just don't want to stick around an airport for like 8 hours. Not my kind of vacation!!!! Stacey did that to Hawaii and I thought it was a good idea. Thanks again.

Sandy, I went to Sam's after the sun came out. It wasn't too bad. The side streets are pretty slick though. I haven't shoveled. I figure that Brad can do that when he gets home. I kind of have a crick in my shoulder from something anyway and I don't want to make it worse.

We went to see Grand Torino last night. I really liked it.

I was thinking about you when we watched a movie Saturday on the TV. It was one of those fast and furious movies in Tokoyo and the guy was from Texas and had a major Texas Accent. I wondered if you had one? I know I have a Southern accent but it is not as strong as the people in Georgia.

Haha 2 Fast 2 Furious. I watched it this weekend too. People from Texas say I don't have a Texas accent, I guess since i've moved around. But, people from other states say I do.

Everything is good. My computer is working a little better now. Bryan and I didn't end up going out for lunch because he got stuck on surveillance. But, he did end up arresting two people so it was worth it. Hopefully we will try again sometime this week.

Selena, Tyler had one day with seizures probably because he has a cold. They are at a luau right now. How nice would that be?? The 100% deet is oily. They really don't have any instructions for use. I used it on my feet for the no see ums and exposed parts and spray Deep Woods for the rest that is covered with clothing. I really think that you could go through the oil quite fast if using it on the entire body.

Cristi, I got out and decided not to stay out. Not that it was bad. Just didn't want to fight the parking lots driving and walking.

Selena - Tyler has only had one seizure day. He had a few drop seizures and small shaking seizures, but it is most likely from him being sick. I heard him talk yesterday and he has a really deep voice because on the cold. Those kids seem to always get sick when they go on vacation.

I would think the 100% Deet would be unsafe to use all over your body. That stuff can be dangerous. I had read that you can apply it to pressure points and this would help. I normally am attacked my mosquitos and can not really remember ever having too much from the sand. However, you just never know what will happen. I am going to take some Off Skintastic that is unscented and some deep woods off. I will probably find the 100% deet as well. A girl can never be too safe, right? Plus when I am bit I have huge ugly red cakes on my legs. Nasty looking when you are on vacation and want to look good.

Hey I know some of you use stuff like airborne. When do you use it and how often? I want to take stuff to help me during the airflight over, during and back from PC.

Selena, I have to tell you about this poor, poor woman from Scotland that we met this last vacation in Mexico. By day 2 her back was fully covered in mosquito bites. I mean 20 or 30 huge bites. Bless her heart. She managed to get through the vacation but it was awful. I managed to get bit twice. Just ask Heidi. I am a mosquito magnet. It pays to wear deet even if you think you are ok. Airborne......Ted and I take it right before boarding the plane and before we go to bed the first day. We also spray saline solution in our nose right before boarding. They say that if your nose membranes are moist that the little bacteria/bugs can't stick to anything. (sorry, don't know how to correctly say it) We have managed to stay well.

I have to book our trip to Costa Rica today. We have been trying to decide between two different weeks in May. Someone at Ted's work wants the week off that we don't take.

Has anyone tried a nettie pot? I am having good results with it. It's a pot to clean out your sinuses with distilled water and the little salt packet. I joked to Aerial that you've never lived until you poor water in one nostril and watch it come out the other.
