:scared1: Wow, that is quite a drive. I would probably do the same thing for mine too. It is so hard to find a good hair stylist.

I have lived in WS for 19 years. For a couple of years I drove to the town I grew up in to have my hair done but really did not have a good person. I had a customer that owned a salon and I started going there. It was a very expensive place but I started going to a new girl there. The new stylist have to intern there for 2 years before they get to cut hair. She was awesome and since she was new I was able to get a great price. She never went up while I went to her because I was one of her first customers. She did go up on other people. But after she had her son she never was ontime. I always booked the first Saturday appointment (every 6 weeks) of her day and I had 2 small children. I would get there ontime and she would be up to an hour late. It is hard to entertain children for 30 minutes which was the time it took to get my hair cut. Then you add on the time she was late, it just became where it was not worth it anymore. It took me 7 years to find someone good after that. I am sticking with her. I figure I would have to pay $150 for what I get done every 12 weeks and all I pay her is $50 plus tip, so I can afford the $8 for gas. It is a tank there and a tank home.

I am so excited now about the cruise for Mac's birthday. I finally got the thing booked. Did I tell you guys how hard of a time it was to book it? lol It took me 24 hours to do it. Something was going on with the computers and I could not be signed on carnival's website under my user to look at the rooms available for that sailing. I would sign off and then I could view the rooms available. I then would chose a room and sign in. That way it would pull all of my info in my profile. Then when I went to pay for it I would get error messages saying something about consumer name and phone number and then it would say I needed to sign in to the user or call carnival to book. It took me forever to finally getting it booked. Then I could not cancel the RCI one and had to call them to cancel it. What a pain!!!

But now I am excited about this cruise. I know we will have a good time. Did I tell you guys that Mac told me she would stick with me during the day but at nights I would be on my own. lol

We are doing a dolphin encounter for her birthday. Then we are going to go to a hotel in Nassau the next day. I know we will have a great time.

I am going to have to figure out if I am going to drive down the night before or the morning off. I have given it a lot of thought.
One, I could drive down the night before. I will have to work that day and we would not get to leave until after work. I might can get off a little early. I do not want to hit Charlotte traffic after 4:30. Meaning I would have to get off a little early.
Or, I could wait and leave the day of the cruise. I can have the my car packed and ready the night before and leave by 5am the next morning.

I talked to Jeff about this and he said something about well if you stay home at least you will sleep good and then that made me think...NO I will not sleep at all. Which reminded me of drivign down in May for that cruise and we left the night before. I was excited but the drive wore me out and I was able to sleep.

So what do you guys think.....leave a day early or day of???

Selena - my vote is leave a day early, that way the stress of the drive is over with and you know for sure you will make it in time.

I am so horrible at decisions!!!!! I really appreciate you guys letting me bounce this off of you and helping me figure out what the heck to do!!!

I just think it would be safer. I know how I don't sleep before a vacation.

That was my thought process. I just figured if I could drive that night I would feel better the next day for the cruise. Now I have to figure out how to get off work early that day. I should just leave half a day and pick up Mac and leave around noon. That way I would be there by rush hour. lol Now that sounds like so much fun. Jacksonville is a pain to drive in due to ongoing construction on the highways. At least we would get off fairly early into JAX.

Selena, I would go the night before too. I would be too stressed out waiting until the day of.

Jrsy, the school Rachel goes to is just 7th and 8th grade. Her friends from her first elementary school all started middle school last year in 6th grade and she was bummed about that.:) SHe is pretty excited for school to be starting. SHe is also really excited for no daycare anymore.

I have ONE WEEK left before my honeymoon. :cool1: :woohoo:  :dance3:

The girls are starting middle school too, but they are in 6th grade. It is the same school just a different title I guess, they go to a charter school out in Miliken.

My gosh Selena. Look at all your tickers. Man, I am envious!

Sandy we are spending the kids inheritance now. :lmao: They need to be self reliant anyway, right? Even Bill Gates is not leaving his money to his kids. :cool1: Wish he would leave it to me. Seriously, I will be in debt for the rest of my life. I am not going to live forever, and one day I can sale my house and move in with the kids, if it comes to that!:rotfl:

Thanks Cristi, you guys are really helping me a lot. I am serious!!! I am horrible at decisioins. I know what I want to do but then their are choices to that so I am horrible because I am afraid of making the wrong one. It all boils down to I like to please everyone so I am too afraid to make a decision that might be wrong. Does that make sense?

I bet Rachel is excited!! Middle School is huge!! I remember taking Mac the night before to get her schedule and I am driving down, giving this speech and all of a sudden I started to cry. Dang it, I am now just typing it!! Rachel is a beautiful girl. She had a great family. I am sure she will love Middle School. Plus the rite of passage to "graduate" from DayCare is a BIGGIE.

Okay, so we volunteered to buy the girls school supplies this year and Chris will take them on Friday. I just looked up their school supply list and almost passed out. Granted, I have never bought or paid attention to school supply lists but this seems to be a lot. What do you guys think? (keep in mind this will be times two!!!)

Heidi, the list looks normal to me. Fun fun

I got my hair done last night, it looks great. I ended up meeting my friend for a drink and dinner afterwards and stayed out until 2. We met some Entergy folks that were down here from Arkansas helping get the power back on. It was a lot of fun. I'll be hurting today though.

I bought all kinds of sample size toiletries last night, I am so ready to pack now.

Marcie - Thanks, I was just so suprised at how many packs of copy paper they need and college ruled notebook paper!!!

Alex's list is similar, though it does look like their's does require more paper. I'm also surprised about AA batteries for calculators; can't remember the last calculator I owned that required batteries that large. There is a calculator on Alex's list but the specific model was discontinued in 2005; nice, huh? He also has to bring Kleenex and sanitizing wipes.

Dang, Selena, you made me tear up just reading your post. I have a feeling next Tuesday will be emotional. Rachel seems to have a pretty good group of friends. She was telling me about the solemn vow that some of them took to stay friends in Middle School. She has one friend that seems to be wanting to grow up a little too fast though. Rachel seems to be distancing herself from that girl on her own though. She doesn't like the way she has been acting lately.

The only thing that surprises me is the flashdrive, but i guess that is how it is these days. Maybe Aerial will need one too. In high school here you get your list from each teacher first day of school, so I've only bought her notebook paper so far. I'll get her 2 notebooks. We have block scheduling and they suggest having 2 backpacks one for each day, there are purple days and white days, every other day. So, you have a purple day backpack and a white day backpack. They don't use lockers they just carry that backpack around, I think they only have 3 or 4 classes each day with block scheduling. Anyone else have this?
