I agree with the kids thing. It is so hard to even explain all I see sometimes. Basically these types of parents ignore their kids until there's a problem, so sad.
Younger kids need constant entertainment and supervision - books, crayons, word games, take them to places that interest them, then as they get older, we can pull back a little, but still need to be there so they learn what's okay and what's not, before we can let them be independent.
Sometimes when I see a parent just sit and have a cocktail while her little ones run around the pool, splash people or jump in over people's heads, I really feel bad for the kids. They might be having fun then, but you know that's not the only time they're ignored. . .
If you came with them, you watch them. If you didn't, you shouldn't have to!
and when they're splashing in the hot tubs . . . grrr
