Cranberry or Pineapple?? Part 2

I know this sounds mean and nasty but when I go on vacation without my kids I do not care to have to "play" mother to a bunch of kids. It is amazing how parents just allow their kids to run wild. It blew my mind when I had to keep an eye on 3 kids that they parents came in and then left them there. They were under 5!!

:scared1: I do know exactly what you mean! Even if I have my children with me I don't want to watch other people's kids! LOL!

It drives me nuts to be on vacation and deal with other people's kids. For the life of me I do not get why parents leave their children to take care of themselves. I mean I go on vacation without my kids to have fun and to relax and not deal with my children. It helps me to be a better mom to have a break. I know when you go to the pool you should expect to be splashed but get real I do not expect to be splashed repeatly by the same kids! I loved the pool at GN but I was rather surprised at all the kids there. Vegas to me is not a family place. Although I do want to take my kids out there it just does not seem a place for younger children at all.

I am packed and ready to go. We were suppose to spend the night with friends tomorrow, cook out and then go riding on the Harley Sunday. Our friends decided to go to the beach instead. They invited us to go with them. I am now waiting on Jeff to get home. It will still be a few hours. He is out of town at a meeting.

Selena, Have a great time!

I was reminded of you in my last class, we talked about Reading Recovery.

I agree with the kids thing. It is so hard to even explain all I see sometimes. Basically these types of parents ignore their kids until there's a problem, so sad.

Younger kids need constant entertainment and supervision - books, crayons, word games, take them to places that interest them, then as they get older, we can pull back a little, but still need to be there so they learn what's okay and what's not, before we can let them be independent.

Sometimes when I see a parent just sit and have a cocktail while her little ones run around the pool, splash people or jump in over people's heads, I really feel bad for the kids. They might be having fun then, but you know that's not the only time they're ignored. . .

If you came with them, you watch them. If you didn't, you shouldn't have to!

and when they're splashing in the hot tubs . . . grrr

Steph, that's so funny. Last time I went to the playground, my nephew made a friend, - around his age -4 - and I was watching them both - I kept thinking "Who's this kids caretaker?"

I am almost done with my project for school. I have 40 power point slides! I need Robbie to help me put it in paper format with APA citations tonight. Hopefully, we'll finish tonight and we will meet my parents "down the shore" (right, Jrsy, lol) Saturday for dinner and maybe the beach.

Hope all is going well with you. Jrsy, all your pics are making Robbie want to move to the mountains and take me hiking!

I will talk to you guys soon!

Well, Dane brought the divorce papers to my office today and dropped them off up front. They are signed, so right after lunch I brought them to my attorney and signed them. All that is left now is the court. Which will be in a few weeks. Guess I'm good as divorced. I'm a little sad. I don't miss him. It's more the life that I thought I had is gone. Yes, I am happier, but still a little sad. Tonight in our town we have this thing called First Friday. The first Friday of every month on the main street they have a flea market of sorts. My friend sells jewelry there. Well, tonight they are having this inflatable big screen TV and they are showing Over The Hedge. There is also going to be karaoke. So, my friend and I are going out there to support our friend who sells the jewelry and I asked another friend of mine to go out there and bring his kids to watch the movie. He's packing a cooler of beer, and I'm sure Melissa and I will have some Malibu before we go. Guess I will celebrate.

Tomorrow Melissa and I are going to the beach. Actually mostly everyone I know is going to the beach this weekend. Aerial is going to her Dad's tonight, but I think they are going to the beach too.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!!

Great pictures! Colorado river looked a bit low, no?
I don't have a reference, since this was our first visit.

Selena, I feel exactly like you. I don't like to mother on vacation either. What is wrong with these people?
Was this Britney Spears' kids? Isn't she the model of mothering?

We were lucky with our Moab trip; there were a lot of kids at the pool, but they were well supervised by adults.

You talking about going "down the shore" makes me wish I could head down there for a long weekend. Of course, I have heard that it is very hot and humid out there right now, so maybe I will just stay here. You guys are always welcome to visit. Tammy and I will take you hiking, Sandy and Heidi will take you camping, Cristi will teach you the finer points of falling off a pier...:rotfl2: (Sorry Cristi, it is late Friday and I am beginning to get loopy!)

Funny, Jrsy. I'll have you know that the last time I was on a pier I did very well and didn't fall off. :)

By the way I finished Deathly Hallows the first day if you want to talk about it. (not here since Marcie hasn't finished).

We are having fun here at my SIL's. We went to the pool yesterday. I have some odd sunburn areas. I don't know what I was thinking when I applied sunscreen. :confused3 Last night I was trying to help her set up a new headboard and footboard on her bed. They have a foam mattress and let me tell you that sucker was heavy. I was on the back side of it and it flipped backwards and knocked me back on the boxsprings and I was stuck (and no we hadn't had a drink yet). It was pretty funny.

Good morning, had a great time in Vegas. Thank goodness we went to a Pool party at the Palms on Friday to escape all the kids at the Monte Carlo pool!! The weather was great and it was HOT!!! The temps were over 104, but at the pool you would never notice it unless you got out of the pool!!! At the palms pool they made snow and we got to sled down the snow hill into one of the pools, it was a blast. The only shows we saw were impersonations of Prince and the Pussycat Dolls...both were great shows and a lot of fun. Now off to the audit, I doubt I will be on much today. Have a great week.

Howdy everyone. Nothing new with me. Sounds like everyone is managing to stay busy and out of trouble.

Ummmm, Cristi, the mattress goes down first and then you. LOL

good morning all!

I am done with grad school (not for good, but for the summer!) and I leave for WDW Friday. I am so excited.

I hope everyone's doing well on here! Can't wait to hear about everyone's adventures!

Hello everyone, been busy with work and the audit...I may lose 10 pounds running around so much!!

We are finally done with running around to theaters -- until another child decides to audtion!! LOL! Two months of everyday (but Sunday) is too much for me!!! DS told me that he never wanted to try to do 3 shows in such a short time again. ;) Of course after the last show on Saturday another director came up to me to ask if 9ds would be avilable for a couple of her shows.....

We have this week to take it easy -- dh is in England making arrangements for their new store. And a week from right now we will be landing in Philadelphia for our Adventure By Disney!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: 16dd will tell you that she is just in it for the food! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think I am ready!!! LOL! I still have to get some stuff ready for dh & 6dd -- they are staying home. Dh is going to have to take dd to a b-day party so, I want to have the gift and everything ready - it would just make it that much easier for dh. He has never had to shop for other peoples children before. ;)

I will be there Aug 31st - Sept 3rd!!!!! If you go then let me know, we can meet up.

Good morning. I am a little irritated this morning, Chris and I are suppose to go to a concert together tonight and he just called asking if I was just dying to see the concert because he wants to sell my ticket because he needs the money. Why can't he sell both tickets since he already saw the show in Florida in June if he needs the money so bad.

Hello all.

Lulu, I didn't realize that you were headed to WDW this Friday. Lucky you. Marcie, Heidi and I will be close behind you. Why didn't we all try and plan this better?

I will!!! Wouldn't that be funny that the TX people have to go all the way to WDW to meet? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm with you! Did you tell him that it sounds more like he would rather go with someone else? He probably didn't mean it that and just didn't realize that it might sound that way. kwim?

If it was really because he needed the money I would tell him to sell both or none at all! ;) I'm bossy that way. ;)

I can't do that, we are not married yet!! ;) :lmao:

Now he just called and said that we would leave at 6:00 because he wants to check it out before the concert starts. I am about ready to call him back and say forget about it and have fun and that I made other plans.
