Sandy, you are so wonderful. At the wedding over the weekend, people were talking about where they'd like to move and it was North Carolina and Colorado! I kept thinking they must know my monkeys!!

Today was happily uneventful, except for babysitting my nephew and niece. He told me that "Ladybugs and bumble bees are the superheroes of the garden" and explained all about how they eat the bad insects. I just kept thinking how much I wish I had a classroom full of little ones like that!

Cristi, it must be nice and peaceful without her.

Well, Robbie has finished grilling our steak, so I will talk later!

Lulu, I just got caught up on that thread about misbehaving kids. It was totally frustrating reading that thread. I had to post about the belt though. It is abuse in my opinion and abuse breeds abuse. I grew up in an abusive home. My 2 sisters and 1 brother abused their family. I, however, chose to end the abuse. Good thing I went camping over the weekend or I would have posted more before it was closed!!

Ok, I'm guilty....I haven't read in a few days and have to catch up.

I had a blast when I went out over the weekend. I am truly thankful that I have friends who look out for me and get me drunk. Anyway, seriously I can't wait to go out again and I'm sitting here wondering why I let myself stay miserable for so long. I have to go to the lawyer today to get the money and I do NOT want to see him at all. I'm so done. Heidi told me her friend was loving living alone by two months. Well....2 months will be on the 11th and I didn't believe I would be this much better by then, but I'm loving it.

Aww. Sandy, You are right about it becoming a cycle and not getting out of it. It takes someone really special to break that and teach their kids to behave with loving actions instead. I am glad you posted what you did. It must be frustrating to read that for you, especially.

It is so hard to post on threads like that sometimes because there's such extremes - So many people were saying "kids will be kids so ignore their behavior" or else were advocating belt, switch, etc. I just think - Whatever happened to time outs, talking to your kids, giving them another activity to do, etc. Whenever I have to stand in line with a young one, we always talk about stuff around us or play a game. It is when kids are bored, they get into trouble trying to entertain themselves. Then the kid gets punished and hurt in the end. So sad.

Whenever I have to stand in line with a young one, we always talk about stuff around us or play a game. It is when kids are bored, they get into trouble trying to entertain themselves. Then the kid gets punished and hurt in the end. So sad.

I have to agree with you there. It is sad to go to restaurants and such and see kids with nothing to do unless the restaurant has a placemat and some crayons. Alex has brought his backpack with him whenever we've been someplace where there is any potential of a wait. That is something that Tammy learned from her mom. It also bothers me when I see the parent on their cell phone instead of interacting with their own kids, whether it is in a store or driving around.

Oh my Lulu and Jrsy, love you to death. I feel EXACTLY the way you guys do with child rearing. Jrsy, the statement about the cell phone always hits a nerve with me. I have taken care of 6plus kids and my own two. I would talk to them in the stores even if they were just a couple of months old. I know people would think I was crazy but interaction is a key. Nowadays, they are on the cell phones in the stores and while driving when that is a great time for interaction.

Marcie, I am so glad that you posted. You act and sound so happy. LOVE IT! You're statement "I'm so done" made me smile.

That is so cool that you met up with an old friend on the DIS! It is so funny because I just got an email from someone I met 13 years ago as well - my former high school teacher! She is a children's/young adult author now and we've kept in touch on and off since she left teaching!

Tell me about your hair cut! I am so glad you love it. Mine's still short but I waver about growing it out - just because I always imagined it in an updo for my wedding and I hope to get married oh, in the next 5 years.

Enjoy crafts! I love the little ones. Although I teach HS, I am hoping to move younger.

It's a little past my shoulders -- I had about 4 - 6 inches cut off. LOL about the *wedding updo*! My 23dd is getting married in October and she would hav to grow her hair for YEARS for it to be *updo* ready!

My dad is one of 9. His father was extremely abusive -- pulled hunting rifles out and they had to hide, etc... Beat my grandmother, the whole nine yards. I don't believe any of my Aunts & Uncles to be abusive. I do know 1 of my cousins (I have almost 50 first cousins) to take after our grandfather and luckily he has no wife or children!
We are a very close knit family and have large family reunions every 2yrs. And we love to get together for family weddings -- all over the US! LOL!

I got my money yesterday....It was tough being in a room with him for an hour, I ran out of that lawyer's office. I've got appointments to get my hair done this weekend and eyebrow wax. I think I will get a pedicure too. I'm hoping to go out this weekend. And, soon I will buy my plane tickets for Disney. There sure is more to life then a mean man that liked to cheat on me.

They are tearing down the "dowtown area" so there is nothing downthere. Of course we were a block away from the "bad part." Oh well, good to be home.

Were you anywhere near the Rio Grande restaurant, in the old train station? We picked up my boss at a hotel near there, don't remember if it was the Courtyard but might have been, and drove over there to eat. On our way into the building, we could see a guy about half a block away shooting up right on the street.
