craft/scrapbook room organization storage

Help. I told my husband all I want for Christmas is to organize my craft/scrapbook room. This room is also where I have a large desk for doing the bills and a couple bookshelves. My son also wants to add a computer to the desk top so it is going to be a multi purpose room. I have a corner and want to have a better system.

Right now I have wooden shelves from IKEA that will be moved to the other corner for storage. I also have a fold out work table in white laminate that I use as my craft table. I have 2 rolling drawered carts with stamps and accessories in them. I will have a wall approximatly 60 inches wide for some sort of storage unit.

Does anyone have any suggestions/pics to offer???? I don't want to spend a fortune but I am having a hard time finding a unit. I saw a neat E K Success modular unit but couldn'r find any info when I googled it.

Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

I use 3 of these. Two of the 6 drawer kind are stacked on top of each other making it nearly ceiling height. I originally bought the plastic bins, but the weight kept making them fall off the track so I returned the plastic and bought the metal mesh ones. They work fantastic! The bins come out so if I am stamping for example I have the stamping bin on the table and then i can slip it back on its track and have a full work space again.They are on wheels so I can move them to clean behind them which is also a great feature. They come from IKEA, so they arent expensive.

Hi , Last Saturday i just found the new hard cover call 'The Organized & Inspired SCRAPBOOKER" Its all about organizing your scrapbook room. These different pro ladies show thier organized scrap rooms, with lots of tips and ideas. It is made by Simple Scrapbooks. I hope it helps, I can't waite to start my room too.

Can you post pics so we can see your space?

I have not seen the Organized scrapper book but the cover looks intriguing. I think that might be a good place to start. Do you like things out in containers and such, or do you like everything put away. Would open shelves be better or a cabinet with doors. Look at your other spaces in the house, especially the kitchen to see how you like things set up. This will help you get an idea of what you need and want.

I have a breakfast nook for my space, so I'm not much help but here are the pics.

the drawers I got at Joanns, they have my stamps, and used paper that needs to be filed, kits that need to be done, kits that are done but need pics, and completed pages

the boxes have tools, punches, cricut carts, and things that still need to be sorted. The binders have all my embellishments, Disney, seasons, holidays, etc.

the red thing has all my brads, eyelets, buttons etc. the little things. That little metal thing in the left corner has the same thing. I take that with me to crops.

I am in the process of reorganizing too. I am pretty sure I am going to get the Pax Nexus closet from Ikea. 14 1/2 deep, 92inches high, 39 inches wide. You can put the shelves in where you want them. It fills the space I have in my dining room. It will cost around $380 -- I am getting the one with doors. I will use the cropper hopper vertical paper storgage files. I saw a file folder box from the container store that will fit. I will get that for my swaps and stickers, etc. I am checking out different embellishment holders. I want something similiar to Buffy's red one with many drawers. I just have to figure out what dimensions I have to work with.

What I like most about this closet is that I can control the shelves. I will have a shelf to hold my cricut mats and a tray with my stickles and cat's eye inks. The opening will only be 4 inches. Above that shelf, I intend to have a shelf that holds my cricut and carts; the opening will be about 9 inches. I think this will really maximize the amount the closet can hold by eliminating dead space. I hope it will increase my efficiency too.

I got the red storage unit at Target, it has small drawers and large drawers that can both be divided in half. So in 1 drawer I can have the front 1/2 with red brads and the back with Blue brads.
They also had a grey one that has all large drawers. Oh, I found them in the tool Dept. And it can hang on the wall too.

Does it stay together well when you move it? I'd hate to have to pick up hundreds of brads, buttons, eyelets, beads etc

when I pick it up I tip it backwards just a bit so the drawers don't fall out but it's really not meant to be moved a lot.

I have three tall frames and the wire baskets, plus wood tops and wheels.

I will try and get a pic of my scrapbooking corner of my craft room today if I remember. At the moment I am really trying to get my dis 07 trip completed though so I may get caught up in working on that and forget.
