Crabby Mouse Services!

You know, I can't think of any other vacation spot where people call and ask so many questions. Maybe I am just ignorant, but do people call the hotel they are staying at ahead of time to ask questions about soda flavors and hair dryers and room locations? I can see how such questions would be annoying, but how long do they take to answer? But people do need to relax a little and not try to plan every single detail of their Disney trip, down to the soda flavors and wanting a first floor room with a good view of the duck that walks by once a day. Honestly, you are going to be at Disney World! Isn't that what is important? Can't you deal with the rest?

I give up.

totally agree!! if you have medical reasons, you should know something like that isn't directed to you. But I also have read these and found SOME of the questions humerous, Like calling and asking what flavor salad dressings they have?!?! I just go and enjoy myself with whatever they provide, ITS DISNEY!!:cutie: but to each is own!!

Whoo Hoo, hey I'm sporting a purple bagalini w/ a hubby & a cutie son. Maybe we will see you at the pool. I can't even wait to go. They are calling for snow this coming week here in PA and we just had a 73 degree week? Crazy

I hope you have a wonderful vacation and perfect weather. You sound like someone who is a great mom and everyone will have a great time!:)

Ah, but hasn't disney strived to make a WDW an all-inclusive affair. (you know never leaving WDW property) Haven't they strived to make it so that guests come directly from the airport to WDW and never leave property? Haven't they priced a stay on property so that leaving WDW to go to one of the other amusement parks in far more costly that spending the fourth day of your vacation at WDW MUCH cheaper (or fifth, sixth, etc.)

No, if I was going to a chain hotel in NYC or LA, I don't think most folks would ask the same number of questions, but I certainly would if I was going on a cruise, an all inclusive place or an island resort like Atlantis. And as a matter of fact, whenever I FLY to a hotel it matters a good deal if the place has hairdryers - esp if the airline is going to charge me for bringing a second bag onthe plane.

My post wasn't directed at anyone in particular. I was just using sodas as a way to make my point. People call Disney much more than they call other resorts. Yes, I understand calling if you have a medical question. But I dare say the majority of people who call are not calling for that reason. They are calling for reasons that are fairly trivial. Room location request. Requests that rooms connect/don't connect. Requests to be close to a pool. The list goes on and on. Fact is people DON"T call other vacation destinations as much as they do Disney. People tend to get a little obsessive over their Disney vacations when they should just relax and trust that things will be ok. Even if they don't get a corner room next to a bus stop. Maybe then the CMs could deal with more urgent problems.

Uh no I called directly to the POFQ resort not reservation guest services......

1) You cannot call directly to a resort, unless you know the true phone number.
2) Those numbers are not for public use or dispersal.
3) The published numbers go to a Call Center, even though you hear resort music.
4) Then, the operator may or may not forwarded the call to the actual resort.
5) In many cases, they are directed to CRO.
6) It is judgment by the Call Center, based upon the topic.
7) For resort issues, the Call Center calls the resort and asks if it is OK.
8) If the resort accepts the call, then the call is forwarded to the resort.
9) This keeps the resort Concierge/Front Desk/Back Office from being overloaded.
10) There are a lot of calls that would take from resort guest service if allowed.

NOTE: This is true even when you dial from your resort room. You do not get the Front Desk, but the Call Center. It is far more economical to use a Call Center than having several/many operators at each of the resorts.

ahhhhh thanks, I am so looking forward to this trip 19 days to go. It would be nice to meet up. Ready or not here we come. YEA...this is our favorite time to go the weather is perfecto!

Well, goodness....

I'll sheepishly chime in one last time with a hope that you and yours have a very magical stay, logansmummy... :wizard:

I'm guessing you didn't count on seeing 'the ugly side' of the Diz with your innocent OP.

I kind of understand both sides of what you and others are saying here.

IMO, the problem is Disney is spreading it's customer service as thin as can possibly be, to of course make more profit for the shareholders, and save money everywhere else.

Given the prices Disney charges for it's resorts, this is unacceptable to me.
The whole, "Customer be damned" feeling that keeps spreading all over The World. It seems to get worse and worse.

My partner works for our Ritz-Carlton here in Sarasota, and I know what goes into an excellent level of customer service. Disney does not even strive for this goal, let alone come close to achieving it.

Alas.

At any rate, have a delightful time at The Mouse. :)

Here ya go, I always call the desk at the resort I am staying in the night before, I confirm with the front desk, I let them know my expected arrival time, I need a sharps container, and if at all possible - I need the fridge going so my insulin can be stored immediatly - if its HOT in the room and the fridge off, it takes forever to cool down -- and I worry about it freezing so turning it all the way up and going out to enjoy disney is not an idea solution.

Here are all the numbers - they are HOTELS charging a premium... I would only HOPE they live up to the Disney standard of customer service - ask for a name the next time this happens. (oh yeah, and there was an employee upset at POFQ and POR recently - some of the employee magic has been snuffed out)

Thank you everyone for joining my thread. I truly appreciate everyone's opinion. I hope you all have a wonderful time on your upcoming trips. I know that mine w/ my wonderful hubby & son will be a trip of a lifetime. Also thanks to Ishy for posting those handy numbers. Peace & Love to all of you....

I would call Guest Services and ask for a supervisor. My DD is a CM who takes room service orders via phone at the Y&B Clubs. They are VERY strict about CM's giving their all and being over-the-top friendly no matter what kind of day they're having.

I'd complain - maybe they'll compensate you a little. Maybe.;)

Just an aside to the conversation... on another thread (free dining I believe) someone posted that they expected "sunshine and rainbows" to come from the phone when speaking to a CM about her reservations. This is the sort of expectation we all seem to have from WDW. It will all be perfect, just like a movie. Unfortunately there are mere mortals like ourselves on the other end of the line.
