CR Magic Kingdom view?

My newbie question: I just made an AP reservation for the CR tower for Memorial Day weekend, and am wondering if anyone has any feedback on the likelihood of getting a MK view. I requested this and was told by the CM that such requests are usually granted, but I would think that most who reserve the tower would also ask for the MK view, so some will certainly be disappointed. We will be arriving before noon on Friday, the 27th, and I also am wondering if our early arrival will help?

Hi, I have stayed at the CR MANY times over the past 12 yrs and requested a MK view room. I have always had my request granted. I haven't been during a holiday weekend, though. The front desk told me that some people don't even know to request it so.....it pays to DIS!!

If for some reason upon check in the MK view is not available, you can always ask the front desk to be moved over to the MK side the next day or asap. Something may be available for you.

Just a note, also....my kids always want us to get the Bay Lake view because you can see the electric water parade from your room on that side. Go figure. We just usually walk out to the boat dock to view it.

Enjoy the Contemporary - it is still my kid's favorite resort!!!

Since half the resort overlooks Bay Lake and the other half overlooks MK, I'd say your chance of a MK is about 50%

Welcome to the DIS!!! I think your chance of getting an MK view is higher than 50 percent. Many people, probably half of them, don't even know to request an MK view. I'd say your chances are 75 percent, maybe even higher than that. I think it will help that you are there early. Be prepared to tell them you will wait for an MK view room if one is not available at noon and have them hold your luggage.

dont worry if you get a bay view it is wonderful. we actually like it better than the mk view. my ds wqas in the pool every day and it was so nice to sit on the balcony and watch him and my dh going down the slide. the bay side is much more peaceful especially during the day because during the day on the mk side you are also looking over the parking lot. so dont worry if you dont get mk view both sides are great!

I just got back and my request for a MK view with a fully booked hotel was granted. I was thrilled with the whole request thing, actually. I had requested a king bed, non-smoking, MK view tower room when I originally booked over the phone back in December. Four days prior to checking in, I sent in a fax repeating my request and also asking for a room as high up as possible (I made my written request very polite and with some humor). I got what I wanted, including a room on the 11th floor. So, yeah, reserve your room early, state your request, and fax in a final request a few days prior to arriving, and your chances should be pretty good.

I will add, though, that the MK view is not all THAT great. Most of what you see is the parking lot, and the castle is rather far off. Space Mountain is closer, but the view of it is nothing to ooh and awe about. The fireworks might be great - things never worked out during my three nights there that we got to see them!
