Thanks to anyone that discussed the SOG renovation and room availability at the CR! I got a Garden Wing Suite at the CR along with 2 regular rooms for our family get- together June 7-14 2003 for the SOG rate. The whole family is tickled. Now we'll have lots of room to gather each day. Does anyone know how many of these suites are in the CR and what are the room numbers? Also because it is a suite, is a refrigerator included?

Don't know how many suites there actually are. We stayed at CR through a SoG relocation in March/April. Got a corner room, which was a junior suite - it included a refrigerator. I think it was #2209. The SoG office on the 3rd was also a suite (convered to the office). There may be larger suites, but this was very nice & connected to one of the other rooms we had (basic room). The junior suite had a king size bed & a sofa bed, one bathroom sink, one sink near fridge, 2 showers. Very large.

Request 1st floor - no balconies or patios on other 2 floors - very decieving when you see pictures.

Trip:

I think I'm missing something. How were you able to book a suite at the SOG rate? Are you paying more than the regular SOG rate or were you able to request the suite in advance?

Hi - I was able to book the rooms 53 weeks out. The rate for the suite is $225 double occupancy plus $10 for each over 18. It has a King bed, a queen bed, a sofa bed and either one or two day beds. I don't think the suite rate is based on rank like the regular rooms.

Ah!!! Thanks, that explains it. I'll stick with the regular old $89 SOG room ;).

You'll be amazed by this. We got the junior suite at an $89 SoG rate!!! I have no idea how. We were amazed when we got to our rooms. We thought maybe it was because we asked for at least 2 of the 3 rooms we had to adjoin. At the desk they put my parents in the suite. They left after a week & my brother took it who is in the Air Force. He paid $69 a night - it was incredible.

We left the adjoining door open the majority of the time & it was great.

Honestly, I think it was a mistake that we got it, but we certainly didn't complain!!

*gack*

You mean I might have to share a room with my parents? OK, suite. At 41? My mom plans on asking for adjoining rooms. Oh no. :earseek:

Here is the floorplan to this "Deluxe Garden Suite":

I had inquired with CRO about booking one of these for my New Year's stay at the Contemporary, and the nightly rate was $1045 per night plus taxes. You are getting a great deal! (I had a Tower Club Room for $505/night plus taxes - Boy do I wish I could get SoG rates!)

How exactly did you get the suite? My fiance and I are going to the CR as SoG guests from 26May03-06June03 for our honeymoon..we really want to try and get into one of the junior suites, but arent sure how to go about doing it...who should we talk to about this? Thanks for all of your help!

MineeBa-by - Congradulations on your upcoming marriage!

My husband is retired AF - so I was able to make the RSVPs at SOG. If you are eligible to stay at SOG, just call 888-593-2242 8:30-5:00 EST to make you plans. If the suite you want isn't already reserved you should be able to get it. The suite rates are alittle different the the regular rates. I don't think they are based on rank. But you may want to check on that. You can make them 53 weeks in advance. You are able to reserve up to 3 rooms and the person eligible must present ID when checking in. I was charged for the first night on my CC and no other payment is due until arrival. You can cancel with a 30 day notice with no penalty. Not that you will need that !;)
You can also purchase tickets at the temporary office set up in the CR.

Thanks trip!! We called and made our reservations already for a regular room there..I will call again on Monday and find out what they can do for a junior suite, what prices are, etc. and Ill let everyone know!! :) Wish me luck!!

We also tried to reserve the jr. suite for our travel dates in late October, but SoG only has ONE of these suites available for their military guests! They also told me they do not offer a waiting list for the suite, but if you hear different...let me know! We would love to get the suite!

We stayed at the CR in the deluxe garden suite at the SOG rate of $225 a night. It was very, very nice. It included two large rooms and two full baths. The bedroom had a king bed and balcony, the living room had a queen bed, a sleeper sofa and a day bed. It also included turn down service which was really nice. There were two big tables in the room and two balconies. It was a corner room so it had wonderful views of the lake and the electrical parade. It also had a stairwell right next to the door so it was very easy to go to the pool or marina. It was indeed a wonderful bargain!

We are returning to the SOG/CR in September with more family members. I was told by reservations that the SOG has only one of the Garden Suites to offer it's customers so they do book early. But it is not different than before because they only had one suite at the SOG either. That will change with the renovation though!

The Shades of Green calls the one suite it offers a "junior suite" but in reality it is the Deluxe Garden Suite that California Dreaming posted. It is MUCH larger than the junior suite which is only designated for three people. I don't know if they have one of those also.

lookingforward

Do you remember the room number of the suite ? And was there a refrigerator or microwave included?

Yikes! Getting the "junior" suite would be way too much then!! Thanks for the info..when i call tomorrow ill get more details on what they have to offer, etc as far as suites go.

Trip, it was 8000 something. I am sorry I don't remember the name but it was on the second floor all the way to the end of the hallway. It had a refrigerator but I don't remember a microwave although I think you can request one.

Trip - I know that 7209 is a junior suite. It does have a fridge & wet bar, no micro. There is a micro in the Food & Fun Ctr. & 7209 is pretty close the the main building. It has a very nice view & you can see the water pagent from it every night. This is in the North Garden Wing (the SoG relocation wing).

ok! I was on the phone waiting for about 45min, but I finally got through, and this is what they told me, just to confirm with everyone...SoG offeres only one suite, and its booked completely up through this time next year. WOW do they go fast! I spoke to her about getting a guaranteed waterview ground floor, and she was able to book it for me right then and there for an extra 10 bucks a night! HURRAY!!! Cant beat that! Thank you all so so much for all of the info and advice you have passed on!! Gosh, now the hardest part is going to be waiting until next year!!! hahahahaha

Minneebaby! Yeah! I am happy for you! Did you get the first floor guaranteed as well? I will have the same category of room this summer, and will let you know what it's like. I am happy for you. A little more romance for just ten bucks! Way to go!

A1A1---YES!!! Hurray!! I asked her if I could get the first floor guarantee as well, and she said that the 10 dollars reserves BOTH a first floor (patio!! I love sitting outside!!) room as well as a waterfront view...WOW! I sure hope you have a wonderful time this summer--I look forward to hearing what everything is like! Ive never stayed on site before, just at Westgate Lakes timeshare, so this will be great great great! Thanks again for everyones help!
