Greetings Fellow "Hoseheads", ;)

I've previously read that I should bring an extention cord that will reach accross the stateroom - got it.

I use distilled water in the humidifier and was wondering what others have done - used the ship's tap water, brought their own, or some other?

If you brought your own, did you carry it with you or had it delivered to your room at embarkation?

Also, did you carry around your CPAP during embarkation or had it delivered.

TIA,
John

We just got back from the 1/15 Magic cruise. My Dad would not let his CPAP out of his sight. He is kind of picky though but they are not to gentle with the luggage. I had a great idea for our next cruise though, I thought he should put the whole carrying case in a small rolling carry on and that way it would be easier to manuever (his is in a 14"tallX10"widex5"thick case). This wold also leave a little room for some extra stuff like his trunks to get in the pool or whatever. Also remember the CPAP counts as medical equipment on the plane so you can have another carry on in addition to it. We bought the case of water on the ship and he used that water for his humidifier.

I just got off the Wonder on Sunday and I hand carried my CPAP with me. I did take an extension cord this time and it was much easier than renting one from guest services (one less thing to worry about). I carry a water bottle filled with distilled water in for my humidifier. I just transfer it from the gallon jug at home. Some medical supply stores sel small bottles of distilled water, I am just to frugal for that. The water bottle fits in my carring bag for my cpap. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and bought a rolling duffle bag ($19 at Totes) that will fit my CPAP bag as well as a gallon water bottle, plus it has room for other stuff.

Leaving tonight! :cool1:

As a respiratory therapist, I would not use the gallon of water. After water has been opened 48 hours, it has the possibility to grow bacteria at room temperature. I would rather use the small individual bottles for filling a CPAP humidifier. This is the instructions that we use when setting up our CPAP patients. Please don't throw any stones at me, I just like to keep my patients from any further bacteria infections since CPAP can bother a lot of peoples sinuses. Some people's resistance is not as good as others.

My husband carries his CPAP and water with him when embarking on the DCL. It is irreplaceable, to say the least, and never leaves our sight.

dianna-tn - I am also a respiratory therapist and agree with your response. You really don't want to risk an infection while on vacation.
