Hey All,
So I am looking into doing the CP and saw that one of the possible jobs could be Photopass Photographer. I would LOVE to do that on the CP. Does anyone know if that many CPers get Photopass as their job?? I feel like I have not heard/seen a lot. I usually see merchandise and attractions, but no Photopass. I know a lot of people who did the CP, but all but a few were merchandise. Those that weren't merchandise were attractions and one was hospitality. Also, to get the Photopass job do we need to submit pictures or a portfolio of our photography skills?? Thanks so much for the information!!

Photopass is one of the difficult roles to get. They only pick a handful because they already have a lot of full timers who work photopass. And from what I've been seeing of all of those who were accepted is that skills in photography is not really needed. I've seen people who majors in photography or know how to take professional pictures get rejected (a few even own photography shops) while people who has barely any skills in photography get accepted. Yeah, they accept professional photographers sometimes, but in the end they don't really look at photo skills. It all comes down to how well you do in the interview and how well you answer when they ask you why you want to do photopass. Recruiters are really random when it comes to choosing a role for you. And, no, you don't have to send any samples of your work. It's just like applying for any other role! Good luck and remember to do the best you can in your interview. My advice is to ask people who interviewed for photopass what type of questions they were asked about it, so you can prepare for them before your own interview. Or you can think about what kind of questions they might ask you.

hi!

My fiance was a photopass photographer at Magic Kingdom on his CP. He IS a photo major in school and a professional photographer. If you have any specific questions send me a private message and I'll ask him!

Than you both so much for your reply!! Both are really helpful, seems like it really depends on my interviewer, guess I'll just have to try and be extra charming :lmao:
epfootballcutie04 thank you so much for your offer, I will be PMing you in the next few days with a few specific questions. Thank you SO much for the offer and help!!

Hi! I am currently a Photopass CP in EPCOT right now and I love it! I didn't have any scenario questions (i only applied for Photo, Guest Services and Concierge) and they just asked me about my experience with camera's. I told them that I had a lot of experience, detailing photography trips and the classes I have taken. I talked about how I had experience with a Nikon D80 (we use D90's in the parks) and why I LOVE photography (capturing memories). There are people who haven't really had much (if any) experience with photography, and some people who i have met that have a lot of experience but didn't get cast there (instead with like qsfb). Then again, there are CP's who are Photopass members and have lots of experience, so there is definitely a mix. I just knew what I wanted to do with Disney, and what I didn't want to do, so I did not apply for QSFB or custodial.
I have a blog about my experiences with Photopass, including the interview and what I do everyday if you want to follow. Feel free to ask me any questions!

Thank you so much for your responses!! I am definitely going to look into your blog BigDreamer. I know I am not putting down QSFB or custodial as my options. I have the Nikon D80X too!! I'm a big Nikon fan!! What were the other roles you put down for??

Hey there! I was Photopass at Epcot in Spring 2010. When I was there, I was told there were 66 Photopass CPs across the whole property (all four parks). I think around 2000 people are selection for the CP so photopass is definitely a difficult role to be placed in. I didn't have any professional experience as a photographer and I didn't take any classes but when she asked me about it, I gushed and gushed about how I took literally thousands of pictures on my week and a half trip to Disney World and how wonderful it is for a photographer.

They did ask what was my favorite photo that I've taken and why. I would just make sure you say something that is tied to a specific memory because thats what youre there to do, make memories!

Good luck!

Congrats on being 1 of 66!! Those numbers are crazy!!
I was thinking of throwing something about memories in with the photographs and how they are usually the first cast members you encounter in the park so you want to make it extra special for the guests. I'm worried because I have a lot of experience working at The Disney Store that I will get merchandise, which would not be the worst by far, but I think the interaction with guests would be a lot more enjoyable as a PhotoPass.

HEY

I did the photopass CP Fall 09. Like you that was all I had my heart set on. I'm a photography student. 2 weeks later after applying I got the job!
The interviewer asked me a lot about photography and I had this voice in my head that I thought I possibly landed that role. However, the interviewer said there were very little spots for that job. It is true there isn't many spots. I was fortunate to get the Magic Kingdom position and that park probably has the most CP Photopass photographers because of the amount of character locations and demand. There was only about 12 CP's for the whole Magic Kingdom that they took..most had a major that was in the arts. Don't have to submit a portfolio...but the questions they ask about digital cameras and your major will play a role for how fit you'll be.
If you get the job...especially at MK IT IS DEFINITELY THE BEST JOB EVER! I like moving around from spot to spot and being on my own yet still being apart of a team. It's so much fun capturing moments and getting to do new things everyday.
