I'm getting ready to make ADRs for my upcoming December trip, but I'm SO confused. I don't know if I should book the CP package. (I know you can't book it yet, but I would like to decide so I know how to book my other ADRs.) Touring plans shows Epcot as a 2.1 on the day we go (Dec. 18), and it's a recommended park. I would probably prefer using my DxDDP credits at 2 TS restaurants (one for lunch and one for dinner) instead of using them just to guarantee me a CP spot, especially if it's not that crowded. I thought I read somewhere that you can see and hear the show from outside the theater. Would I be better eating at 2 TS restaurants and waiting in the standby line/watching from outside or getting the CP package? Opinions needed.

How crowded CP is that night will all depend on who the narrator is.

You can sort of see and hear from the walk way above the theater. We got dinner and an outside table at Liberty Inn a few years back because we didn't want to wait in line. We could hear the music without any problem, but the narration was a little low.

I would say go ahead and make the ADRs you want and then if you really want to get a seat for CP, you can change your ADRs. If you don't make your ADRs now, you may not get what you want later.

I am in the same boat as you are. Our Epcot day is Thurs Dec 22. I don't subscribe to TP so not sure how busy they say that day is. I did make reservations for lunch that day at Via Napoli but I will try to get a CP package and cancel the lunch ADR if we get a CP. We were able to hear some music from the CP from outside last year but DH really wants to be inside this year so I feel like I have no choice but to book the package when they become available.

I'm going from the 16th-21st and I am going to book a package once they become available. I have a friend who goes that same time every year and always does the CP package. She says it's close enough to Xmas, and over a weekend, so the package is worth it to get a guaranteed spot without having to stand in line for hours.

My main reason for doing the package is that this is my first (and probably only for a looong time) holiday season Disney trip. I'm only going for 3-4 days so I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the extra $ for the dinner or lunch package.

Thanks for the replies. I have decided to DEFINITELY book the CP package. That's the whole reason I'm going at Christmas is to see all the Christmas lights, decorations, and events. I would be devastated to miss it.

I figured out a way to eat at two TS restaurants (one for lunch and one for dinner) AND book a CP package, which is what I wanted to do. (See my other post about my lightbulb moment.)
