Hi All,

We're planning to do the Tulum tour through DCL. It's an all day tour and we had hoped to get some festive shirts to wear at dinner and the deck party afterwards. Does anyone know if there are any vendors/shops near the Ruins or anywhere the tour stops where shopping as available? If we have to we can get them after dinner and wear them just to the party, but I'd love to have them for dinner too.

TIA

I'm not sure about the Tulum ruins but back in 1996 I went to Chichen Itza and the place was swamped with vendors. I would be inclined to think you'll run into a few!!;)

We did the Disney all day Tulum last July. At the ruins they have a section with outdoor vendors. You can buy all sorts of things, clothing, touristy stuff, etc. I am sure you will find what you are looking for there.

Happy shopping!

Hi!
Even if you can't find something while on your excursion, the ship is docked right across the street from a mall that is open pretty late. No problemo!!!

Michele,
We did the Tulum tour last summer. On the way down the bus stops at a road side shopping area. We found several nice things and, after you walk away a time or two, the price becomes very reasonable. I bought a beautiful wrap/shawl thing that I wore over a white sundress.

Once at the ruins there is another shopping area. After the tour you have about an hour to go to the beach or look around. Again, there were many nice things - didn't think the prices were as good and they didn't seem to be as receptive to haggling as the road side folks.

One word of caution - if you have kids say 10 or younger, you might reconsider this tour. It is not a Disney ride - it is an informational, educational tour. In the summer it is also hot. On our tour there were kids whining, crying and generally acting out. It made the parents miserable and distracted everyone else. If you have kids 10-15 you might want to find some books or other info about the Mayan culture before you go so that they can appreciate what the tour is about.

CruzNMom -
Thanks for the info. My daughter is 11 and my son is 8. We are doing this tour because my son has wanted to see the Mexcian ruins "his whole life!" ;) We are aware that it will be hot and don't have a problem with that. Our kids are homeschooled and have been studying the Mayans for the last couple of months. We'll have a "refresher course" when we start school in the Fall and then our cruise will be in October.

Thanks again.
