cozumel mexico?

I second cruisecritic.com, I've been to Cozumel twice.

San Miguel in Cozumel has a wonderful square with shops and restaurants, cheaper in and around the square, and more expensive on the street facing the water. You can take a taxi here, I want to say it was like $15.

Last time we were there, my DH and rented a car. You can do this yourself, once you get off the ship. I think it was Hertz. Just make sure to get the insurance. If you wait until the crowd passes getting off the ship, you can haggle a bit. I think we paid $60 inclusive for the day and another $15 for gas.

Then we drove to both Mayan ruins. One is just one building, within a tacky tourist trap area, but still fun and the other is a big town like area, that is just gorgeous. (This one cost like $12? to enter) We stopped and had a few beers on the beach on the other side of the island, stopped at a roadside stand and bought a blanket, which I use as my tablecloth. And ended back up at the square in San Miguel.

ETA there is also a great little museum in San Miguel about the history of Cozumel and Mayans. highly recommended if you like that sort of thing.

I agree go shopping in San Miguel, don't shop on the main street. Shopping in the center/square or back a few streets is much cheaper. Yes it's safe!

We will be going in about 2 1/2 weeks, we will be staying there we always rent a villa.

My husband and I went on a cruise last January and one of the stops was Cozumel. I know you said your Nana does not like water. But, we did a jeep excursion and swimming in a cavern. It was a lot of fun. The water was beautiful - it had calcium deposits that made your skin glow. Everyone got a life jacket. We stopped for lunch on a beautiful beach where the water was a beautiful blue. One of the highlights of our trip.

We did a cooking class that we found out about through www.cozumelmycozumel.com. It was fun. We chose what we wanted to learn to make and then the lady, Josephina, who did the class, added things. We made our own tortillas, guacomole, beans, salad, salsa, etc. Some of it was hands on and some was demonstration. It was the highlight of my cruise.

Your post said she doesn't like the beach and doesn't really like water. And well, thats the majority of what a cruise is. Water and stops at the beach. Just going based on what YOU posted.

and she doesn't like water, there is nothing wrong with going on what I said. But I am also saying that just because she doesn't like it shouldn't mean she should not go on a cruise. She doesn't go for the ports, she goes because she enjoys to do things on the ship.

I also not really a HUGE beach fan. I don't want to go on a cruise to go to a port to sit on the beach all day. I want to see the area, shop, go out to a restaurant. I live less than 45 mins from the jersey shores, if I wanted to go to the beach I would go there, just saying ;-)

I don't get why you HAVE to like the beach or water to go on a cruise.

:confused3

We did a snorkel and jeep tour with a stop at a small beach for about an hour that also included lunch.

Me too! I connected with some others before our last cruise who were interested in doing this and we booked it together. We had an awesome time! :cool1:

My dh did the jungle ATV tour and enjoyed that.
