Hello all,
My family and i will be traveling June 5, 2004 on the 7 day western cruise. We've done the eastern before but i have some questions about one of the islands, Cozumel... We are most likely going to a beach, but i dont know which to choose... I heard that Chankanaab isnt much to see especially when it comes to snorkeling (but that doesnt matter because we're definately snorkeling in Grand Cayman ;) so i need help on this one...which excursion is best!

Thanks,
Mike

Snorkeling is better on Grand Cayman....we did the Fury Catamaran excursion.....party boat, snorkeling, beach, volleyball. The beach wasn't that great but this was an overall fun excursion. Drinks were free and people danced all the way back to the ship.

Dzul Ha is free (just buy a few drinks / ice cream from the bar). No crowds - on June 11, 2003 there were the five of us and a few other couples for the day. Several small snorkeling excursion groups came through both by boat and landside but didn't stay too long.

A 16 oz coke was $1, and ice-cream (variety in packages, like you would find in a convenience store) was $1

Off shore snorkeling is very good there. A lot of the local Gringos hang out there (aka CozumelSally). The coral is still alive. They have a few large covered areas with tables to stay out of the sun. There are also restrooms.

Across the street on the mainland side is the Dzul Ha Beach club, which has a pool, spa, massages, etc. Day prices for the Beach club is $5

P.S. - Rent your own car and visit the Island on your own. It would be a crime to go to Cozumel and not see the East side of the Island. We used Lesspay at the Hotel Barracuda (easy walk from the pier just past the Police/Naval Station). We got one of those VW "Things" (called a Safari in Mexico) for $30 with insurance. Wasn't much to look at, but was fun and didn't use much gas. LessPay was easy to deal with and no hassles.

sorry i forgot to add this in earlier, but.....what about the teen catamaran on cozumel. was it very popular? how many kids seemed to be doing it?

thanks again,
mike

We just got off the Magic this morning. What a fabulous trip!

In Cozumel, we did the Beach Break at Playa Sol. They reserve an area solely for Disney cruisers. Beach chairs, umbrellas, open bar, buffet lunch. Water activities for the kids both around the pool and on the beach. Banana boat rides were $10 per person additional cost. They also had parasailing and other watercraft to rent. Cabana massages were also available but I,m not sure of the cost.

The staff was very friendly and spoke fairly good English. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. The Disney name carried a lot of weight there and they treated us like gold!

My teens did this at the last minute and they enjoyed it. They wanted to wait and see who was going before we booked it. They made it back in time for dinner second seating.
