Do all people on DCL excursions take the cabs that are at the port, or does Disney provide a bus to the beach excursion? Last year I didn't feel very save driving in the back of the cab with my DS 19 months and the driver racing like there was no tomorrow. Also, there are no seatbelts right? Is there a beach that you can walk to?

Thanks,
Wendy

When we did DCL cruises, they had a vehicle for us--sort of a bus. I can't say that I felt terribly safe with the driver. There were no seatbelts.

Unfortunately, it wasn't specifically this excursion, but that might give you some indication. DCL put our whole group in one vehicle. It wasn't a team of cabs.

We did the Tulum tour with about 90 other people in July. DCL had arranged both the ferry ride to the mainland (at Playa Del Carmen) and 3 nice air conditioned buses to Tulum. The ride was very comfortable and the guide was very interesting.
I don't think that kids under the age of 6 would find this tour all that interesting though.

When we did our Dolphin Discovery at Chakanaab (Disney excursion-March 04), they walked the whole group out to the cab area and put us in cabs. My family of four jumped in, the DCL representative handed the driver a voucher and told them where we wanted to go. We were told after we arrived at the park that we couldn't get in a cab without the DCL rep or we would have to pay the driver (no voucher). We waited for the rep and it all worked our fine. It was quite a ride :scared1: I sure wouldn't have wanted to drive with all those cab drivers blazing around

If DCL is putting people in taxis for beach days, I would definatly consider going to the beach on my own. It's a LOT cheeper going to the beach on your own than through DCL. And the taxi ride is just a scary on your own as it is with DCL.

We went to Playa San Francisco - next to Playa Del Sol. About $10 each way for the taxi (total for all people) and the beach is free to enter. Has rest rooms, bar, restaurant, pool and of course the beach. It had watercraft rentals, chair/umbrella/float rentals. It did NOT have the water trampoline and/or ice berg for the kids to play on like del sol has.

jrabbit,

Did you find SanFrancisco beach less crowded and was it a pretty beach. I am going on RCCL in Jan with just the girls!! No kids. We are looking for a relaxing quiet beach in Cozumel...:sunny:
