Covid Fatigue

After that shift....it made me seriously rethink my job there. Especially when we can't ask people who are purposely doing that to leave if they can't follow protocol.

I'm so done with all of this. I need to be able to spend time with my other family members sitting around their table sharing a meal, laughs and hugs. And I'm sorry...but...I WANT TO TRAVEL!!!!!!!! I want to travel with my family and see my family, see new places and have new experiences with them.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this... I work part time as a supervisor in a retail store and understand!!!

I have a 3 time rule, If I have to ask the same person a 3rd time to pull their mask up I tell them to leave. It isn't company policy but I honestly can't deal with it anymore and it is not fair for the staff to have to do it.
One other thing that drive me insane not just where I work but anywhere is people coming into the store with out their mask. The person at the door ask reminds them them need one and they dig a dirty mask out of their pocket standing there putting it on while people are waiting to get in to the store. I understand when this all started people were not used to putting their mask on etc but now come on it's been long enough to know you need a mask to enter a store.

This!! or they casually put it on while walking in and are half way there before it is even on. I wish we could trust people to keep distance as I am sure tired of a mask.....it is affecting my skin :(

Sigh. Just scrolling through our local homeschool group and two posts back to back (different people):

Post 1: commenting their child is bored and looking for new playmates. Inviting random strangers to become friends so her daughter can make new friends.

Post 2: sharing that they're at the park so come one, come all to join them

Annnnnnd....this is why we can't have nice things 🤦

Just kidding of course, but I wonder if you could follow such people around the store and spray a disinfecting spray in their wake. Maybe they wouldn't like that too much and would leave.

Get an aerosol can of lysol and spray everything after they touch it. OMG that would be the best.

Thanks for the reminder@ilovetotravel1977! We love Island of Bryan and will be watching on Sunday for sure. I feel for all of you that have to deal with the public for your jobs, that is really hard to do these days. I get frustrated just reading people's rants on Facebook, at least I can just turn off the computer...but dealing with the general public has to be one of the most stressful jobs these days. In case anyone didn't tell you today: thank you! :flower1:

So yesterday I was at my hair stylist, waiting for my colour to set (I'm in BC). I was on the only customer in there. While I'm waiting for the colour to set my stylist has another of her regulars come in for a cut, a guy about mid 30's. Spends the entire time ranting about how he will NEVER get the vaccine, how his kids will never get it, how it's child abuse, how his wife will never be allowed to get it, how, since we live above the 35th paralel we should all be getting more Vitamin D because that's how we will 'keep this flu away.' Like...the actual.....WHAT? My stylist is 'seemingly' agreeing with him, not saying much, just the odd comment. I'm thinking 'uh, do I need to find a new salon'??? So after he leaves, she's washing out my colour and says to me "so, that guy was interesting, can you believe the load of bull he was spouting?" I was SO relieved to find out she was NOT agreeing with him (we had a lengthy conversation about it during the rest of my appt so yes I know she's telling ME the truth). Thank goodness. Oh and the kicker? The wife of this creep is a nurse at our local hospital and refusing to take the shot.

Good times  :headache:

Or she will get the shot and not tell him.... I don't know what it will take for people to understand that this is real. My mother in law is just like that. She won't vaccinate. Hubby was talking to her the other day and said to her we are not talking about this so change the subject or we will talk tomorrow. Just blows my mind. I am thankful hubby does not think that way.

Where in BC are you?? Fellow homeschoolers unite, haha.

I always take a step or two back for people who think they don't have to wear a mask. Someone actually complained to a manager that I had done it....and the manager back me up and said....we all do that :rolleyes1

Again, I would love to walk up to someone and ask them to put a mask on or pull up their mask, but our directions from TJX corporation is NOT to ask them to leave if they don't wear a mask. I'm going to say mask adherance here is probably close 99% . Most people willingly put masks on here. There is only a small number of people that don't. This family was just ignorant and doing it because they know that they won't be forced out of the store. It was sooooo uncomfortable in the store.

I have been working my full time job all through the whole pandemic. Our whole household has been luck enough to stay working, but that also means we are always around other people. We have been out and about so much, we have certain rules we follow to help keep everyone in our household ( and our workplaces as well) safe....but that day....made me sooooooooooooooo uncomfortable. I told a manager on my next shift that I was seriously rehtinking about staying on. It's not worth the 15.00/hr to deal with s$$t like that. My regular job, we have the right to ask anyone to leave that we want.

And yes, that is going to happen. Not everyone is going to get the vaccine...and that includes healthcare workers who won't. It honestly doesn't surprise me.

So I don't even remember what thread we were talking about vaccinated people still getting sick, but this was an article today, discussing NBs post-vaccination/still in hospital (even after 2 doses) cases:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-...spital-new-brunswick-epidemiologist-1.5983764
What stood out to me was that they acknowledged that they did a poor job of letting the public know that 100% efficacy in trial would NOT translate to 100% efficacy in real life, and that basically some people will still get severely sick and die from Covid even after vaccination

Thanks for posting your source for the information. This is directly from the CBC article you copied. I'm not looking for an argument but none of these 3 patients were fully vaccinated.

"On Saturday, when CBC News asked how many of the hospitalized patients had been fully vaccinated, Russell confirmed the even more surprising news that one person had received both doses.

On Tuesday, pressed for clarification on conflicting information, Department of Health spokesperson Bruce Macfarlane said the person received the first dose more than 14 days before the onset of symptoms, but the second shot was less than seven days prior to symptom onset.

"In this case the second dose is not considered active yet, so the person still has the equivalent of one dose protection," Macfarlane said in an email.

The other two people had received a single dose each — one of them more than 14 days before symptom onset and the other, less than 14 days prior, he said."

It doesn't really change the fact that vaccination isn't going to be a guarantee, and that is their point. Look at the US - they're getting ICU cases in people who are past the 14 days of their second dose.

People are getting upset, and increasing their vaccine hesitancy, because we have people ending up in ICU and dying even after being vaccinated, because they were told it was 100% effective in preventing that. It may be a very small amount, but when the public was told one thing and now another is happening... Now they marketed it that way because of vaccine hesitancy, but... probably transparency would have been a better route, which is why they're now talking about it.

I'm not sure if you saw it, but CBC had a good article on this subject yesterday. It came from the fact there are 3 people in ICU in New Brunswick I believe (I'm going off memory, feel free to correct me) after having the vaccine. The expert said it's not surprising considering the vaccine trials would have had a relatively small sample compared to the millions of doses administered worldwide up to this point. The 3 cases equal a 0.002% chance of this happening, and details have apparently not been shared about the 3 cases, but the expert 'assumed' they would not have been young healthy individuals.
