Cove Cafe is supposed to be adults only...

Have we gone that far off topic where lamenting children in the Cove Cafe has turned into a debate on which cruise line has the most drunks? What is that saying? "Page 5, time to unsubscribe?"

A CM posted at the entrance to the adult area would be a good idea -- also, maybe a sign on the counter inside the Cove stating "This area is for adults over 18 -- coffee may be found at XXXX for the whole family." It would be in their line of vision, and the CM would just have to point out the sign. That could only help.

That's a perfect suggestion. Make it seem even more exclusive and adults only that way. Another way would be if they had magic bands on the cruise and they were coded with your age (in the chip), so only adults bands would allow access through doors into places like Cove Cafe

Hi I am 16 years old and I myself love to get my daily coffee, that doesn't suck, at the Cove Cafe. On all 16 of my DCL cruises, I have never been told to leave although I do feel slightly awkward on occasion because of people like you. The coffee at the drink station is very low grade and for people who love to enjoy a decent cup of coffee, the Cove Cafe is the only option. I do not go and hang out there with the intention to be loud, I just go in and go out. If your son was really so devastated about some kids buying some coffee then maybe he should get over himself. And the smoothies you are talking about most likely contain coffee as they are the frozen cappuccinos which are only available at the Cove Cafe. The first day aboard, Cove Cafe is actually open to everyone as I have verified with a CM. I am sure if there were teens being disrespectful of the quiet place, a CM would most definitely ask them to leave however they don't seem to really mind under 18's to enter. And lastly, you are on a very nice vacation, why don't you learn to enjoy yourself rather than work yourself up over some people bending rules to better their experience. thx xoxo BYe felicia

I have been reading bits and pieces of this thread over the past few days and well I have come to the conclusion I just must be more laid back than others. We were on the Fantasy in June and I think Disney does an excellent excellent job keeping kids out of the adult areas. As a matter of fact we were in the pool one day and there was this very young looking girl sitting in the pool with I am assuming her parents. She was asked to leave by several different CM and to all of them she replied today is my 18th birthday - most of them walked off and just kept going, but one of them actually took her room key and went to verify it - when he came back he told her happy birthday - so I am assuming it was correct. Kids have walked through - barely even notice them; one kid came in very cautiously one day looking around right behind where we were sitting - a CM ask them to leave and he told him he needed to find his mom - the CM walked with him to go find his mom - I am never going to stop a kid from finding their parents; and I really don't care if a parent wants something out of the Cove Cafe and walks in there to order, gets their stuff, and then carries on with where they were going. I just can't live life that uptight.

I walked up on the concierge level deck once. I didn't really realize what it was and it was at night. Later I looked up the deck plan and seen seen that it was labeled concierge deck. I didn't stay long but just looked around a little. Do they have signs that I might not have seen since it was dark out? I can understand how people that pay for the concierge level wouldn't want everyone on the ship wondering into that area.

I'm curious as to how you were able to get there without having gone through the concierge lounge? I thought the only entrance to the concierge sun deck was through the lounge, which always has an attendant in it.

There is an exterior door near the Satellite Falls area on the Fantasy and the equivalent area on the Dream. It's locked and requires a KTTW to access though.

No a non concierge would not be able to get to the concierge deck. I assumed that the poster was referring to Deck 12 where the concierge cabins are located and not the actual deck itself. This past February when I exited the concierge lounge, I saw people grab the door before it had shut and walked in. Danny the concierge host instantly escorted them out. They are right on top of who should and should not be there..

Cove cafe is NOT the only place on the Dream or Fantasy to get a freshly made cup of coffee or similar beverage. The VISTA LOUNGE is located on deck 4 above the atrium. Their menu is similar to if not identical to Cove Cafe. They have similar snacks also. Parents and kids are welcome there.

I am also a very laid back person. Most things don't bother me but bringing kids in an adult only location is wrong. Having that view does not make me or anyone else uptight. Curious if there is a "line" and what rule needed to be broken that crossed that line before people wouldn't be considered "uptight". Would people be considered "uptight" if they were upset because someone saved seats in the theatre or at the pool when they weren't supposed to or if they cut in front of someone in line. Is that OK or should everyone just be like "fine, whatever".

Rules are in place for a reason.

This is a good point. Someone said that the rules were in place for the kid club areas for safety reasons. It became more strictly enforced after an incident with a teen feeling threatened by an adult over the age of 18 allowed in the teen club. That same safety concern can be said to protect teens from placing themselves in an uncomfortable position in an adults only area. Many teens think they are immune to that, but it can happen to anyone.

Up there was another place it looked like you could order drinks and some nice chairs and tables. Beyond that was another glass wall to walk around with more chairs on the deck. I didn't go any further and there were only a few people up there. In looking at the deck plan it looks as if that area is the concierge sun deck.

You weren't on the conceirge deck you were just in the satellite falls which is the 2nd adults only area. The conceirge area is in that section but you need a conceirge room key to get to it.
