Coupon Train ~~ New Riders Welcome!

What kind of scale did you get? Does it let you know if it's too thick? I'm so worried about sending one that's too thick (I send them from work, so I typically don't go to the post office) and then have it be returned or make my buddy owe extra postage. Because I'm so scared of that, when I have large envies, most of the time, I just put it in a Flat Rate, but at $4.95-$4.75 each, that's a lot of money. I wonder if I would save money by just putting them in a couple envies (which I have done). I just don't know where that breaking point is of additional postage. We have a small scale on our postage meter here at work, but there's nothing on it about thickness.

Just so you know I send out big envies. I sent 2 today. 1 local to my train buddy in orlando area. that one was 6.10 oz. it cost $2.08 to send. the other was to the troops the lady is in Guam. Her envie was 2.20 oz and that cost me $1.28 .
Seems like you are over paying and that defeats the pourpose of saving with coupons :goodvibes
Also on the subject it seems like when I mail from the pack in ship places they charge me more then the reg post office. I found a small dinky post office in town. The ladies love my coupon stories and they get me in and out fast unless we yap ;)

I was informed by one of our train riders that my email account was hacked sometime today and that it might be sending you an email with a virus in it as an attachment. Please do NOT open it and delete it. I hope I've fixed the problem by changing the password. Sorry if it caused anyone a problem! :sad2:

:scared1: yikes I was hacked this week also.. wasent nice what they sent apparently . I changed passwords and scaned my computer just to be extra safe.

My envie went into this mail this morning.

I love when we hear from them so that we know they're arriving safely. :thumbsup2

That's Kim in Guam.

What is the correct zipcode for Rhama? I'll put it back in the first post as another place to mail expired coupons.

Envied arrived today. Thanks. :cool1:

No problems at all! Thank you for posting; I did too receive an email with a link in it. :confused3

What is it that makes people think it's ok to "hack" into others' personal things? UGH!!!

I hope all is taken care of on your end and it wasn't anything more than a nuisance!!!

Jen :)

Sending out two big envies today to rdrjj5! Hope everyone has a great week as always!

SoScary'09 I have a 9 oz. :scared1: headed your way. Went out as usual from work today, please let me know if it arrives okay. My mom had given me some of last weeks coupons and we both got the Target mailed coupons :cheer2:

Yes, I know.... :( That's why I think it would benefit me to get a scale. I've tried taking them to the post office, but it's so inconvenient (since we have everything needed at work). Plus, I get to work before the two closest PO's open and sometimes I can't get there before they close (Mondays are my busiest days at work so I always work late). I think it's been mentioned before....does anyone know what the cut off is for thickness of the envie? And that's another thing....when I know I have a thick one (typically, any envie that won't fit in my postage meter) I know I add postage, but how much do I add?? So, I might be over paying by guessing there too! So, I need a postage scale that also measures the thickness! I think the PO has some kind of mat they use....maybe I can find one of those online???

try this link for postage. it gives the sizes tohttp://postcalc.usps.gov/
I went to postage price calculator if the link dosent pop up. scroll down to the envelope size and click on the blue ? it will tell you the size of each maybe this will help but I will still go to the post office because my envies are going to break the post office workers back lol maybe they should be glad they arent walking the routes anymore I am just thankful they still deliver the mail for us :goodvibes.

I was traveling all day yesterday so I'm way behind on reading the thread and answering PM's and posting but wanted to let you know I just asked for a template from the post office. They're free and so handy! Mine is hard laminated cardboard. They also have flimsy paper copies but don't get one of those. They're useless! If your post office doesn't keep them in stock, ask for them to order you one. It has slots in it to measure the thickness. Both 1/4 and 3/4 inches which are the magic numbers for regular envie vs large envie. Over 3/4" and it's considered a package and you pay a lot more.

Try to spread out your coupons in the envie. Don't have a big lump in the middle of it. I try to keep each of my envies under 2 oz. and only 1/4" thick. That way I only have to put a .64 stamp on each envie I send. I really am saving money using that scale and that template. Most weeks I send two envies with between 1.5-2.0 ounces of coupons in each one. It costs me $1.28 in postage for the two. I've asked my train buddy to let me know if anything arrives postage due and haven't heard that anything has so I'm hoping my system is working. :cheer2:

If I remember right, postage rates take a hike on 1/22. I think it will cost .45 for the first ounce but not sure about the second ounce. I assume it's going to be .18 added for the second ounce but not sure about that. Anyone know?

Awesome! Thanks, I will do that! Yes, postage goes up to 45 cents on 1/22. My notification says "Letters weighing additional ounces remains unchanged at 20 cents" (I never new additional ounces was 20 cents so I'm glad you questioned this and made me look)! Postcards also go up to 32 cents.

I asked for one at my Post Office. They told me they don't hand them out. They don't even have enough for them to use and to make my own because thats what they did.
