Coupon Train ~~ Hop over to our new Thread. Link on last page.

Hi Got 3 envies yesterday from JKCT!!!! pulled out 20ish coupons for my next trip!!

I made it home safe and sound but not dressed for zero degree weather with a -30 windchill. :scared1: The flight itself was very uneventful and landed early actually but it was full to the rafters. They were telling people if they would check their carry-ons it would be free of charge because there wouldn't be enough room in the overhead compartments for everything. I sat next to a sweet little two-year-old named Chase and his daddy. Chase kept me entertained the whole way back so time passed quickly. Had to go to the dr. this morning and she told me she's leaving for a cruise to the Bahamas on Sunday. Wish I could escape this cold and stowaway! Glad the MTR prize arrived safely and you're very welcome!

Now you know how we felt when you left us to go to sunny Fla. to see the Mouse! :rotfl:

WOW...-30 is COLD! Especially when you aren't dressed properly. Hopefully your DH was waiting at the airport for you with a nice warm coat, hat, scarf, and gloves!
I had to greet my significant other at the airport with his winter coat when he came back from Puerto Rico on 12/18 because he got off the plane in only a t-shirt! (He gave his sweatshirts and fleece jacket to his cousins and uncles and came home freezing!) He's generous to a fault! :scared1:

Okay, I can now give the OFFICIAL count as I just sent all 91 riders a February newsletter. :woohoo: We have lots of great folks helpin' each other save money using coupons. Have a great weekend everyone. Who you gonna cheer for tomorrow? The GBP, the PS, or the commercials? :rotfl:

Why, the commercials of course! :woohoo:

Shortstuff7429 - Received the 2 HUGE envies yesterday.... WOW! I can't wait to sort through them! :woohoo:

Thank you!

NJSam, thanks so much, got the coupons.

Hope your part of Jersey is not affected by the blackout today. This winter is a killer! :scared1: I changed my facebook picture to a view of Diamond Head- thinking Hawaii:wizard: Deb

You're welcome! :thumbsup2

Thank God, no blackout for us. :yay: Finally, the blacktop is visible and our sidewalks are now wider (thanks to all the melting snow). Our icebergs are now shrinking and there is hope that Spring will actually arrive this year! :dance3: WOOHOO!!!

A side note that I know my coupon buddies will appreciate.
SO here is the back story, almost 2 years ago to the day my DH had to be "let go" from a job he LOVED with a company he had been with for 9 1/2 years. It was a small company that specializes in commercial furiture (folding tables etc.) and playgroud equipment. He was their accounts manager/ website master and knew it was coming (even though he hoped it wouldn't) because their sale kept dropping with the down turn in the economy. People were just not buying new equipment if they could do without. The company really did keep him longer than it was financially benefical for them. (It really was like a small family. The owner cried when he had to tell him that they could no longer afford to keep him. He said it was like letting his own son go.) DH was unemployeed for 6 months (That was SUPER tough.) and has been with a different company doing collections calls  for the last year and a 1/2. We were thankful for this job and an income source but it is literally 1/2 of what he used to make. There had to be a lot of belt tightening for us. Our budget is pay the bills, put gas in the car, and save a little for our next Disney trip (our only non-essential, we don't buy expensive clothes, handbags, etc. We save for a few happy days with the mouse.) We did not realize that we had been living so extravagently until the fun money was not there. We have not been to the movie theater in at least a year, when before it was a weekly event. (You get the idea.) We were blessed to not be looking at foreclosure or anything like that. We were still making our bills, there was just very little left after bills and essentials.

Well today the son of the owner, who was one of the 3 employees left to keep the business going, called DH and asked him if he could come back part time. He will not be making what he was before BUT there is a possiblity that it could become full time with raises if business continues to go back to normal.:cool1::thumbsup2 DH will be doing it in addition to the collections job. It will not put us back to what we were before he was "let go", but it will help SO much.

Like I said in a previous post we have needed a couch for a LONG time and we waited as long as we could, were so thankful that our tax return would cover it. Hopefully now with this additional income the other things that we need to do will be easier to take care of.

I told DH today that I think this whole thing was just a reminder that we need very little and want a lot. The best place to be is somewhere in the middle- have what you need and get a little of what you want. During this time I read a Dave Ramsey book that a friend let me borrow. It wasn't until then that I realized we had been living beyond our means. We were not super in debt (a little credit card debt but not much) and we were paying all of our bills on time and even a month ahead on somethings, but we were not good at saving. If we wanted it we got it, did it, etc.

The lesson learned is that savings must come first, because you never know when the unthinkable becomes your reality.

Hopefully this change will relieve the stress the finances can cause.
Rest assured, I will continue to coupon. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:hug:
Thanks for the opportunity to share my good news.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new "awakening". I have always lived that way and my children grew up that way. Get what you need and a little of what you want. I always say when shopping, just because you fall in love with something, that doesn't mean you have to buy it! Now that they are on their own, they have money in the bank and buy when they have saved enough money for it. They are also used to going without, so it doesn't bother them to have to wait! It's a beautiful thing! The only thing we need an abundance of is LOVE!

CVS coupon savings 2/9- $ 6.00

Plus $3 back in Savings Bonus if I spent over $10 on John Frieda products, which I did, but I had $4 in coupons for it, so basically, spend 6 - get 3. Born Blonde products are some of my splurge items, basically because I was not Born Blonde! I just play one in my middle age! :rotfl:

:wizard:Honestly, my parents used to tell me I was born strawberry blonde. Thanks to the wonders of chemisty- Right now, I am probably the closest to that ever. Deb

Gretchen2--I received your envie today. It was torn and held together with rubber bands :confused3 but it looked like most of the coupons were intact. Just at a glance, there are several I can use! Thanks!

Check Toys 'r Us. Ours had a HUGE above ground pool from Little Tikes last week normally $500 for $50. My friend bought one. I was sooooo tempted, but we'd already bought a clearance one at Target last summer. Paid more than that for it, but I'm pretty sure it's too late to return it! pirate:
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately DH wants the inground kind. And...we just put if off until next year. DH received sticker shock when we got all the quotes back.

Eyor44- Got your envelope today. Thanks so much!!!
You are very welcome! :goodvibes

How absolutely wonderful for your husband and your family. This is why we are waiting on the pool. Gonna get the last two bills paid off and get a good emergency fund before the fun stuff.
Thank you for sharing your story.

I am due in May but it might be an April baby.
I love babies! :cloud9: Congrats and keep us posted.
