We are a party of 6 (8 on a couple of days) who are going to be at WDW the 1st week of September. Final payments are due this week for the time we are going to be there. ADRs are virtually impossible to find right now, I assume b/c of free dining. I have a couple of days/times that I am still trying to move up/down, change restaurants, etc and was hoping that as people cancel or don't pay for their packages, some of the ressies would open, but so far no luck.

At the same time, I realized that the phone number on my hotel reservation is different from the phone number on my ADRs. I started to worry that maybe I needed to change my phone number on my hotel reservation. The CM that I talked to said that the reservations are not connected at all, so I didn't need to worry about changing the phone number they had on file.

So...here are my quesitons:

1) If my reservations aren't tied together, why did they tell me I would get a print-out of my ADRs at the front desk when I check in?

2)Also, if ADRs aren't tied to hotel reservations, when someone cancels or doesn't pay for their package, does that mean their reservations just sit there unless they call and cancel them too?:confused3

They can print out your itinerary, but they will search for the phone number on your reservation first. You will need to tell them your ADR's are attached to a different phone number. They will then be able to print out your ADR's.

At 45 days, if no one has paid, the ADR's attached to the reservation fall off and they are placed back in the sytem as available. So at 44 days out, you will need to contact WDW Dining 407-939-3463 or 800-828-0228 and check on the dates you want. This will give you plenty of time to research the times and places you want to eat at.

Good Luck

Thanks for your response! This is still confusing me, yes I'm blonde. :rolleyes1 If reservations for ADRs are separate from hotel reservatoins then how do they know if no one has paid? KWIM?

ADR's are generally scheduled with the same phone number you used to schedule your hotel stay. If you cancel your stay or if you get canceled due to non-payment, then the ADR's go back into the system.

If you use a different phone number when making the ADR's apart from the phone # used to make your reservation, the CM taking your ADR will ask you for your travel dates and hotel where you are staying. If you are staying on-property, which mostly everyone is, they will tie your ADR's to the hotel reservation (they will ask for the reservation #) together using two separate systems ( i.e. WDW Reservations and WDW Dining).

To more closely answer the question i think you're asking, for people not staying on-property with ADR's, those reservations do not fall off the sytem until the day they are scheduled. They will call the name of the party at their designated time. If they don't reply by the 3rd time, then they call the next party on their list. The people who do not plan to use their reservation must call to cancel, otherwise that space is booked up and can't be used by anyone else. This should be common courtesy to at least cancel and give the reservation to someone else who actually plans to use it.

Keep checking every day. Something is bound to open up between now and then. Good Luck.

That's interesting because everything I have read about ADR's has been that they aren't tied to reservations and that cancelling a room reservation/package does not cancel the ADR.

When I have cancelled reservations, the CM went in and cancelled the ADR's separately. It wasn't an automatic process.

Not trying to be aurgumentative, but this just isn't true. ADR's have nothing to do with paying for your package. If a traveler comes upon a great deal off site and decides to stay elsewhere, their don't lose their dining reservations. Any time I've changed my travel plans, I've had to individually change my ADR's.

Disney dining is not just for on site guests, so it would not make sense to non-discriminantely cancel ADR's without the traveler asking them to.
