Couple of questins about VWL

We stayed at WL in '99, so I'm familiar with the hotel. But we've booked a 1 bedroom at the villas next month, and I have a couple of questions.

I saw pictures of rocking chairs that looked great. Where are they?

I also saw game tables in the iron spike room. Can you get the game pieces somewhere? Does VWL have something like community hall at OKW?

I also remember reading about a "length of stay" type thing for the boat and bike rentals at WL. Is that still available?

Is the quiet pool really quiet? Or can I take my :Pinkbounc :bounce: kids?

Are we there yet? :teeth:

VWL is great!
The rocking chairs are outside around the front of the building and some in the lobby.
I don't know about the game pieces.
I believe the boat deal is once again being offered.
And the quiet pool doesn't mean it's a library environment. It just means it's a small, unthemed pool. There can be as much noise there as at the main pool at times!
Have a great time!

Here ya go!

There are rocking chairs outside the Iron Spike room, and on a quiet morning, they're divine.

The game tables you see do have pieces ... but I'm guessing that you need to ask at the front desk where they are.

There is a length of stay program for boats and such. It's a little over $200 for a family of - what? Four? Five? Can't remember... but there are a couple of recent threads floating around out there.

On our last visit, the quiet pool was full of teenagers, so the name was an oxymoron. Not bad kids, but just active kids. Personally, I like to see 'em have a good time.

I think you get the game pieces from the gift shop in WL - if not there - then the gym (across the hall from game room)

I know the free VCR tapes are at the gift shop so I am assuming the game pieces are too...

Everytime we have been to WLV, the game pieces have always been out on the game tables.
The rocking chairs are real comfy in the Iron Spike Room after a long day at the parks.

We were there last month and I saw game pieces on the tables. I also think that there is a cabinet in the room that has board games. The Iron Spike Room is very nice - even has a fire in the (gas)fireplace in June!

The quiet pool is 'quieter' than the main pool - no water slide, no organized kids' games, etc. But hardly hush-hush! Kids are definitely welcome.

The rocking chairs outside the entrance are a nice place to grab a cold drink and watch the other Disney nuts (including us!) come back after a fun-filled day out and about.

I believe there are small drawers in the tables that hold the game pieces, if I remember correctly. I think we were still missing a few pieces though....you might have to ask if you can't find enough.

We love the Iron Spike Room....spent a bit of time there on a "date" one evening after dinner at Artist Point...my parents had the kids back at the BWV! Rocking chairs by the fire...very nice.

The quiet pool is for DVC members. It is usually emptier, but children certainly are welcome. I enjoy the peacefulness of it.
Enjoy, VWL is beautiful!:bounce:

Actually, the quiet pool is for any guest of WL or VWL. I've been told that here on these boards and at the resort itself. And I've seen plenty of people coming from the "resort side" to the quiet pool.

And when we go in the summer, it is usually anything but quiet! :p

There is a sign outside the pool that clearly says "members only" If you are renting from a member I'm sure you get the guest perk. This sign was in place last August unless it's been removed since. It was quiet in August and March and April.

I had wondered about that myself, Granny. It seems kind of one-sided if we can use the main WL pool, but the WL guests can't use the DVC pool.

I think DVC should also make a formal notice to WL - because when we stayed in the WL - they say it was fine to use both pools - I think their newsletter says the same.

so since the hotel it self doesn't seem to get the idea - it is not surprising that the guest don't.

We've always liked the rocking chairs at the WL that are outside, facing the courtyard, and they are near the elevators. I think they are on the second floor, but I'm not sure.

The Villa's were added on and the new quiet pool was to accomodate an increase in patrons. My guidebook states the quiet pool is for members. The new online site doesn't mention it. The quiet pool is right outside the villa's for that reason. There is also no lifeguard. If something has changed we should be told. Time for some research!
