I don't entirely 'get' Kohl's sales. They always seem to have a sale going, but sometimes they have coupons too.

1) What is their sale cycle?

2) Is there a better sale than 20% + coupons?

Could someone explain Kohl's to me so I can shop there better?

TIA
ready :)

There is a new sale several times a month, sometimes they seem longer than others. If you have a Kohls charge card, you get extra coupons up to 30% off, and if you spend over a certain $$ amount on your Kohls charge ($600 I think) during the year you get extra 30% off coupons.

You can always use the % off coupons on top of the sales they have, but only if you use your Kohls Charge.

They also periodically give "Kohl's Cash" $10 off coupons that you get for each $50 you spend during designated dates. Typically you earn the Kohls Cash one week and have to wait until the start of the next sale cycle to use it. Using it to the max can require a whole separate strategy. ;)

I think that's pretty much it in a nutshell. My personal rule is that I don't buy anything at Kohls unless it's at least 25% off and I have a 30% off coupon to use with it.

Never pay full price for anything at Kohls. The percentages off can vary daily for the same item. The best deals tend to be night owl/early bird. Those usually occur Friday night into Saturday morning. New percent off coupons tend to start on a Wednesday. Without a Kohls charge you can get percentage off coupons via email. Then you can pay cash or use a major credit card with these. Bonus buy sales can occur on a Sunday into Monday. With the Kohls cash, they deduct the $10 off the item first then apply any additional discount coupons. If you return the items purchased with the Kohls cash, you will loose the $10 amount.

Online Kohls has even more than in the stores. That 30% off can really add up. I have used it on top of sales on Fiestaware for example.

I just got some of those FatHead decals for my son's wall recently, not on sale, but with 30% off i did ok. Also you can use that 30% on their NFL jerseys, and other sports stuff.

When I have the 30% off I look at their clearance online, just in case.

A few more pointers:
  1. All % off coupon codes are usually posted on retailmenot.com. You can use the codes as they do not check which discount you were sent.
  2. It is worth getting a Kohl's Card as most sales require you to use their card.
  3. If you order online from the Kiosks in the store you do not have to pay for shipping and you can use the 30% codes (see #1)
  4. Don't ever shop at Kohl's in the beginning of the week, their sales usually run from mid-week until Sunday.
  5. Watch your dates, because there is usually and overlap with the % off and the Kohl's cash (either "earning" or using)

I agree to not EVERY pay for anything full price at Kohls! They always have at least one 15% off code or coupon circulating at all times.

Kohl's greatly inflates their "regular" prices to make it seem like their sale prices represent a great "bargain."

I bought some clothing items there a couple weeks ago. After ringing up my purchases the cashier said, "That will be $75.56, and you saved $201.50 on your purchases today."

I said, "I didn't save $201.50 because I wouldn't have even considered purchasing these items at that price."

I'm not sure she really understood.

If you have time, also watch items on Kohl's for awhile to figure out when the best price is. "Sale" prices, to which you can add the % off coupons, bounce around - a lot. I recently was watching several items, and their prices went up just as the window to use Kohl's cash opened up. Coincidence? You decide ;)
