I am a bit confused about the difference between counter service and table service.

Typically I think of counter service restaurants as something like a BK, Wendy's etc.

But in the menu's I see at most restaurants you can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

How do I know which ones do specifically counter service for our counter service credits?

If you go on to the Disney site, oh wait here let me just post the link http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...ific/eng/nontheme/tickets/DiningLocations.pdf

If you pull this up it tells you what restaurants are considered counter service and which are table service and what meals they each serve. Hopefully this will help you out. From what I can tell, restaurants where you sit down and have a server are table service and if you have to go up and order what you want and bring it back to your table yourself, that's counter serivce.

If I do not want to carry a guide with me in the park, is it easy to tell which ones are counter service and which ones are table service?

I don't think you'll have any problem telling which are CS at all, and if you are ever confused or just not sure, the CM's are more than willing to help you out and let you know :goodvibes

At TS resturants you are seated and most of the time you are served by a waitress. Buffets and family style resturants are also considered a TS. At a CS you usually order at a counter and wait (sometimes you will just be called back) for you food and you find a seat on your own. Some CS's are also cafateria style. WDW has a lot of CS that have a varity of good menu choices, rather then just fast food. I would compare most of them more to a Boston Market or a local take-out type place then a BK or Wendys. If you are planning to do CS (cheaper) there are a lot of really great places in the WS at Epcot. You can try a many different food from many differenct cultures. Hope it helped, Melissa

You will be able to tell right away for the most part. If I am not mistaking the park maps also tell you which are TS and which are CS. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
