Not wanting to debate the rights or wrongs of getting seating before your meal etc etc etc.

But I have a question?

How do we get our trays to the table. I will be holding the baby so won't be able to carry a tray and hubby won't be able to carry two trays.

In the past I would put kids in a seat and return to help him carry the trays.

Happy to follow the rules, just want to know it won't be a really stressful experience, because if this is the case I might pack a sandwich :lmao:

Thanks Kirsten

Very simple. Usually the food for two or three people will fit on one tray.

and the food for 5 people ok 4 people and a baby? But that is good if it all fits.

Thank you

Kirsten

The seating policy you are referring to is only in effect during peak crowd/dining times at some establishments. You may not even experience it.

I agree with CF, we usually fit our entire family of 4's meal on 1 or maybe 2 trays, depending on what we have.

Most of the time I have 2 trays for 2A 2C. Take the older child with you. They always love to help out. Put the bulkier stuff on dads tray and the child can handle a tray with a couple of baskets/plates of food.

Good idea, thank you I will start practising with him at home either holding a tray or holding the baby. ;)

Sometimes you can sit people down before the food arrives, sometimes you can't.

Lovely thanks, sounds like it isn't going to be a stressful experience so I might start looking at some of the menus and choose a few to try while we are visiting.

Thanks everyone for their help.

I second the PP.

You are only going to see this during peak weeks (Xmas and easter) and I think maybe some limited hours during the summer.

If not going them I wouldn't worry about it.

The best tip is not to eat 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and around 5:00 PM.

A 5 yr old can carry his own tray at the very least-they do in school. He should be able to carry the tray with his food and his brothers with maybe the drinks on the main tray just so they don't spill, unless they are the choc. milk in the bottles that don't spill.

another thought is take what you can in 1 trip and leave a tray up at the pick up and send DH or yourself back up to get it after dropping first one off at the table.

Do what works best for your family!

We talk and debate everything on here :) but don't let this situation stress you out; it will all work out in the end. The average park goer doesn't have a clue that saving a table is taboo ;) and if your trip is during a slower time there shouldn't be a problem.

Have fun! pixiedust:

If you are really struggling to get your food to the table often a CM will help. Sometimes they notice and offer, other times pointing out that you need a hand does the trick. I have witnessed this many times. And if you go in September/October and I see you need a hand, I will be happy to help you to your table :goodvibes. I am sure there are plenty others who will do the same.

Two places we have found it difficult to find a table after getting our meal are Pecos Bills and Starrin Rolls. If you are able to grab a table before you order, go for it.

He has packed lunches at school so he only needs to carry his lunch box. But happy with the idea that he can carry a tray he just needs to get some practise in at home.

It would appear though it isn't going to be a major issue and we will be fine, sounds like there will be someone around to help if we get stuck.

Awww thanks, we are going in May so that won't work out, but if I win the lotto you can come with us and be our offical tray a carrier, you might have to do bags as well but we will tip nicely. :goodvibes

For goodness sake, unless there are very limited seats, sit down with the baby before you get your food. It doesn't look like you're going during a peak time, so you should be fine.

May is a slower time and you shouldn't have a problem at all. As long as there are plenty of tables, it is fine to go ahead and sit down with the kids, then go help your DH with the trays. It is only during the very busiest times when this becomes an issue.

Target is selling their spring/summer picnic stuff now. I saw lunch trays for sale in a varity of colors.

Love the name by the way, (that's my first name, too).

I can see where that would be a stressful idea, but FWIW, I've never seen a CM actually police a sitting area and make people get up that were waiting on their food. We usually go at busy times, too (spring break, August, etc.). I know that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen, but the worst they can do is make you get up.

Actually if they are enforcing the you cannot sit until you have your food rule, you won't be able to sit at all. There will be a CM sitting guests.

But I agree, it shouldn't be a problem for the OP. The only time I have seen that rule in effect has been during the 4th of July and Spring Break.
