Ask a CM and they will be happy to help. And as others have said, the no seat before food rule only applies during peak times.
Lovely thanks, sounds like it isn't going to be a stressful experience so I might start looking at some of the menus and choose a few to try while we are visiting.
Thanks everyone for their help.
For goodness sake, unless there are very limited seats, sit down with the baby before you get your food. It doesn't look like you're going during a peak time, so you should be fine.
I read through it, but I didn't see where you addressed this...why can't your husband carry two trays?
We have a family of 5, I get a table and get the kids started on whatever beverages or snacks we may have brought while my husband gets in line. Then he carries all the food back to us. We've never had an issue with either him or I carrying two trays.
Jeepers, sorry for asking such an exasperating question.
Being only my second trip, I rely on here mainly for information. I had read of the new policy so was trying my best to understand it and not to cause any issues during my visit.
It would appear however, from the replies, (which have been most helpful,) that the policy isn't always in force, CM's will quite often help, and I can teach my 5 year old to carry a tray, so I am happy I posted the thread.

I was actually trying to be helpful. I wasn't at all exasperated with your question and I was being open and honest. The "for goodness sake" phrase was there because I was thinking of all the times I've seen people debate this issue and others and get bent out of shape because someone might sit down before they get their food.
I am not often "snarky" on here and there's only one particular poster I've ever been exasperated with. Sometimes the written word can be tricky though and I'm sorry for the misunderstanding
.
Again, trying to be helpful - but you really won't have to worry about it. Just do what you feel is right for your family. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
and a virtual,
thank you think I might have been a bit over sensitive. Think I should go to bed.

Except during the busiest of times when most or all tables are taken, this is perfectly acceptable. It's especially okay if you are eating at slightly "off times"---lunch before noon, etc.---when tables are plentiful. In the past I would put kids in a seat and return to help him carry the trays.
I have also saw them do that, so if worst comes to worst then it's best that the OP asks one of them for help.A CM will assist if needed. I have seen them do it time and time again.![]()
I have also seen a CM standing at the counter to assit with trays if needed.
