Counter Service at Hollywood Studios

Starring Rolls Bakery was a place that my friends and I both enjoyed. The desserts made up for the lack of food choices.

Step 1) Leave DHS

Step 2) Find decent CS somewhere else

Step 3) Return to DHS if necessary

The aforementioned Starring Rolls and ABC Commissary are both good choices. So is Toy Story Pizza Planet if you're in the mood for pizza and salad (and if you enjoy WDW pizza).

You may also want to try the italian sausage w/ peppers and onions at Min and Bill's if they're still serving it when you're there. Some like it, others don't.

I agree. I'm most disappointed in the food service overall at DHS, but the counter service is quite pathetic. I would leave DHS and walk to the Beach Club (or take the boat) and have a good lunch at Beaches and Cream.

While I would agree that it would be nice to have more choices at DHS, we have always enjoyed the choices at ABC Commissary and Starring Rolls. We really enjoyed an Asian salad we had the last two trips at ABC and the sandwiches have always been top notch at Starring Rolls. I would recommend both.

Starring Rolls for breakfast items/bakery items. NEVER go to the bakery near the SciFi Dine in, everything is always stale there. Abc commissary is disgusting IMHO, it's gone downhill, it used to be good back in the 90's. Backlot Express is pretty good, nothing to write home about.

Starring Rolls is AWESOME! They have great deli sandwiches that are HUUUGE! It's a must do for us on every trip. I seriously crave their sandwiches. The cast members in there are a riot too! Their desserts are AWESOME too!!!

I think Backlot Express is the best choice at HS. If you're in the mood for pizza, Pizza Planet is another option.

I can't believe how many terrible things I have heard about the CS at DHS. I didn't know it was in walking distance to the Beach Club. Thanks so much for the advice :) (And thanks for posting the question OP :goodvibes )

We had a surprisingly good lunch meal at ABC Commissary. I had fish and chips and they were wonderful. That is the only meal I've had in DHS.

I sure would like to know more about Fairfax Fare. Their menu looks nice...Chicken, ribs, brisket.

Anyone?

Starring Rolls is a must do for us! :thumbsup2

I like the veggie pizza at Pizza Planet so that's where we usually go.

I can't stand the CS places near TOT and RnRC-- I don't know why but they are awful-- super sloooow lines and yucky food.

We just go Pizza Planet or a TS like Sci Fi.

Can't understand the bad press CS gets at HS - we had some of our better CS there! All these were on our december trip - not on the same day!:rotfl:

We had lunch at starring rolls. It was December so nice to sit out and we ate early 11.30 ish so no trouble with seats. We got 2 of the huge ham foccacia sandwiches. On DDP you also get 2 bags of chips (mrs vickers) and 2 bakery cakes which were huge and so much choice.

Backlot express. Again nice to sit out. Ate an early dinner - 4ish. Yes it was just burger and fries chicken strips and fries but they were fresh and hot. much better than at cosmic rays for example. Also free help yourself drink refils.

Pizza planet. Ate at 5ish so more of a line but moved quickly. Sat out in the square outside. For DDP you got pizza, salad + dressing of your choice and a mickey rice crispy.

All were generous portions, plenty to share 2 CS between us and our DD 4.

Another vote for Starring Rolls, a must for us every trip. There is an Italian Sandwich at Catalina Eddis that is a must do for us now. The curry at ABC commisary is also fairly good, but wouldn't fo out of my way for it.

Fairfax Fare is my favorite.

ABC Commisary least favorite....would never go back.
