We all miss Ranger so much, esp. my 6 year old son. He went to pet about 6 dogs today at soccer opening day and told each owner his sad tale. He is such a cute little bugger he had several women all misty eyed.
Today we went to pet supplies plus and our humane society was having a pet adoption. Now I've bought dogs from breeders and private owners, but not shelter dogs. This time I really felt I wanted to give some dog a home that needed one.
We ended up buying a 4 month old black lab mix (who is the 4th black lab or lab mix in our block, LOL). It is a female and I am horrible at girl names. Everyone says "what's her name?" and I don't know yet! She has first shots, rabies shot, and is spayed.
She is a bundle of energy. We have to put the old cage up to cage her when we are not at home so she doesn't chew--we have 2 toys we bought her and we'll put a blanket in her cage. She isn't completely trained yet either, which will be fun--I will have to con my dad into coming over and letting her out during the day (DH leaves at 9 or 10; I get home at 3:15).
I probably should have waited, but I just couldn't take it. I hope she turns out to be as good a dog as Ranger was.

Yay for you for saving a dog!! Congrats on the new family member, I'm sure she'll be wonderful!

I'm horrible at names, I always have to look up the pet name listings online to get ideas. :)

I do hope your new, nameless doggie turns out to be just as wonderful as Ranger, in her own way of course.:D

Congratulations on your new addition to the family. We have a lab mix and her name is Katie. She is one the most gentle dogs in the world. She tolerates so much from the doxies. They use her as a pillow during the winter.

Yay! Rescue dogs seem to be the best. That's where I got my baby. She means the world to me now. Hope the training goes well and she gives each of you the special love you deserve.

Labs are great dogs...but chewers!!!

Congratulations

Midnight was our first dog, a black lab/shepard(?) mix, and she was so wonderful. We adopted her from a shelter in Lahaska PA.

Congratulations on your adoption and I hope you have great times together.

Congratulations on the new addition. I know what you mean about missing having a dog so much. When you come in the house and no one is there at your feet, it is just not right.

I hope you can come up with the perfect name quickly with such short notice. I'm sure she won't mind.:p

Congratulations on your new family member! That's awesome. The only name I can think of is Silver (based on your dearly departed dog.). I was trying to think of Disney-related names, but the all seem too "little" for a lab mix - Daisy, Tinkerbell, Minnie just don't seem to work for big dogs.

Or, since you got her on September 11, how about Freedom, Independence or Liberty, to commemorate the day?

Congrats on the new puppy!

How about Lucy for a name? That way when she gets in trouble you can tell her Lucy you have some xplaining to do!

Dd 3 says a good name is Abby. Of course that is the name of our Chocolate lab. Abby is short for Abigail Bailey! We liked the name Bailey; but thought it would be too confusing since we have a cat named Hayley!

Sadie is a common name for labs, too.

I'll keep thinking until you tell us you found the right name for your new puppy!

Post a picture if you can!

Jodi :D

Awww congratulations! And you know I just couldnt help throwing out a few suggestions!! ;)

I thought of some that I might use if we were to get another doggy.

-Emma
-Jezzarex (heard this one time and thought it was soo cute)
-Holly
-Luna
-Cricket
-Princess Fiona

Have a great day and enjoy your pup!

Love the names Cricket and Liberty. So glad you adopted a pound puppy... they make the best pets!

My best friend had a dog Who's full name was Lady Liberty of Lyon (she was purchased in South Lyon MI) and they called her Libby. My mom named our dog Moisha I like saying that one!

Here are a few more to think about.

Raven or Velvet.

Off to search some more!

Thats great that you saved another dog, ived saved all my dogs .

Enjoy your new little chewing machine! :teeth:

I'm sure you'll find a name that fits, and you'll know it when you hear it.

And I think it's a great testament to how much Ranger enriched your lives that you were inspired to welcome a new pup into your home. :D

(My lab mix Sambuca is at my feet as I type this... well, not AT my feet. More like ON my feet.)

I was so happy to read this post! All that love has someplace to go now!!!

here's a few names:
Cassie
Nikki
Piper
Angie
