Could we get a sub forum for games?

I'm tired of eating healthy. I much prefer a Mickey Bar. :mickeybar

Hmmm...looks like I'm eating part of the stick. Lots of insoluble fiber.

I agree!!! A sub forum for games! The entire first page is games at times! Some threads that people have spent time asking for advice go to page 2 with no replies due to this.

I vote for a games board too, or a "games and exchanges" board...so they de-clutter the community board.

I'm also wondering why a moderator hasn't responded to this yet... :confused3

i mean the resort board got a code page as code threads were cluttering up its board

At times, the Community Board seems to be dominated by the games, or the clubby mega-threads, or exchanges, or begging for Tag Fairy attention, or political threads, or weather talk (remember hurricane season)?

But we always ask: if we were to divide the Community Board and create separate boards for any of these topics, would the Community Board still serve its purpose as the general gathering place for all things that are off topic for the trip planning boards? Does the new board make sense, is it easy to define what threads belong there, will new posters find it, will moderators be constantly challenged to move threads to the correct boards?

We'll keep looking at ways to organize the forums to make the DIS boards easy to navigate and fun to read, including looking at whether games should live in a separate forum. For right now, my opinion is that games are part of the variety that gives the Community Board its personality.

honestly i spend most of my time on the CB
and feel that seperating games and games alone whole clear out a bunch of stuff and leave the CB to be what it meant for a place and gather and discuss stuff not play word games 1 thry 28 that almost all the same

i understand what your saying but then how come theres a resort code board seperate from the resorts

i have loved bumping thread ...
this will be my last post on this topic
what ever the Webmaster decide they decide
i have said my peace

anyone want a banana?
i dont do mickey bars
hahahahahhahahahahaha :earboy2:

I would also like to see another board...like an 'endless fun threads' board. I think they are really nice, but there are so many that they do bump all other threads off the first page. This happens alot, especially overnight. One person will post on all of them and the entire first page is mostly endless threads. I don't think it was such an issue until there became so many of them. I don't think they should leave the CB, just be on a sub board of the CB.

I don't see why it would be problematic, after all...we already have sub categories for birthday/celebration threads and armed forces threads at the top of the CB board. Weren't they placed there for the same reason?

YES!!!!!! I thought of that too. I wanted to write an email (or whatever) to the head fred of this board to make a suggestin to add a own board of games!!

I agree -- only board for games. Sometimes, there's just too many games on the front page of my favorite community board.

I definitely would vote for a game board. The club threads number about a half dozen and most are on the front page one at a time, very often none of them. The exchange threads are time limited and also only a few at a time, never dominating the board. The political stuff was time limited, as were hurricane threads.

As for the game threads.... I just counted the permitted number of threads on page one, 55. 5 are either stickies or an announcement. That leaves 50 user threads. Game threads counted, 24, 1 shy of 50% of first page. Most have many thousands of replies, indicating thaey are posted on quite often, and a post brings a thread to page one. I find that count to be rather normal.

As for how to do it, make it s sub board, like the birthday thing. It would be there, noticeable, for those who like to game. As how to monitor. The game threads are obvious in the OP, and the subsequent thousands of posts. As new games start, leave them on the regular CB till they catch hold and have maybe 250 replies, then move them, established. Those who are interested will just move up a level to go to that sub board, like birthdays, codes, or pins. They would not be gone. New games would be allowed for some time to catch on, build a following. If moved initially, they would be like the birthdays, ignored by almost everybody, but if left on the CB, they would flourish before getting moved.

A few years back, there was a 'lady' here on the CB who posted hundreds of jokes, copy and pastes. She posted them all separately, each its own thread, maybe 30 or so a day, each taking a slot on the board. Each thread got a reply or two, and she was ruining the board for the others. I suggested to the then 'chief' here to limit this 'lady' to one joke thread per day, thereby freeing up precious real estate on the board for others, and not have the board almost being a private domain of this person. Since these two were friends, I was basically told to go whistle Dixie. :rolleyes1 The joke thing is not a problem anymore, both those people have since been booted.

I do thinkn anytime you have a constant, not transient, 50% of a board tied up with one topic, it is time to make a new board for that toipic, this one being Games, a CB sub board.

Just my 2.

Well, I'm pretty sure the webmasters aren't going to come up with a rule that says game threads with less than 250 posts belong on the Community Board, and game threads with more than 250 posts belong on a Games Board. :) Confusing, messy and difficult to manage. That would take a lot of moderator time, in figuring out what posts go where, explaining that to posters, and in handling the many reported threads that would probably ensue.

Any changes the webmasters make in the structure of the boards will be taken in the interest of making the boards LESS confusing and easier to navigate.

Hmmm, I don't remember any jokes ruining the boards for me.:scratchin I guess I'm not classified as an other.;)

Yep. I counted Saturday morning. Twenty-five game threads on page one.

You know in real life you come across things that bug you. But you accept them and move ON. Maybe having the games on the CB should be looked at the same way.

I for one miss the chief and the joker.:(

A new forum for games sounds like a good idea to me. I would probably visit both.
