Could we get a sub forum for games?

I think having a sub-board would make it much easier to navigate all the game threads.

Well, I'm pretty sure the webmasters aren't going to come up with a rule that says game threads with less than 250 posts belong on the Community Board, and game threads with more than 250 posts belong on a Games Board. Confusing, messy and difficult to manage. That would take a lot of moderator time, in figuring out what posts go where, explaining that to posters, and in handling the many reported threads that would probably ensue.

Any changes the webmasters make in the structure of the boards will be taken in the interest of making the boards LESS confusing and easier to navigate.

As for a rule and number, heck, pick a number that makes sense. 100, 500, 1,000, 2,000. Game threads are quite apparent, no cloak and dagger mystery, LOL. I was saying that by leaving a game thread on the high traffic CB to begin with, not making it a rule to start a game thread on the game board, it would allow a new game to catch on. Once it has a following, move it to a game board. As for a lot of moderator time, where to move decisions, heck, only one choice, the game board. Simple to explain, game threads above x number of posts can be found on the game board.

I just did a simple sort, number of replies, descending, 27 threads, all above 1,500, many above 5,000, highest, 18,000, sorted out on page one. Took all of about 45 seconds. There were several of the club threads and a few other myriad ones, but very easily to discern 27 game threads. And I took a quick look at page 2 on that sort, only 8 game threads, 350-1,100 posts. Very easy to see how simple it is. So you are dealing with about 30 or so threads that dominate much of the available real estate. If it is moderator time that is the concern, heck, I or anyone can do a sort like that once a month, 12 times a year, send you or Alex a PM with those new game threads that have over let's say 500 posts. If it looks like the one or two new ones are games, move them to the CB sub board. And it's not like they are going away, they are still here on the CB, like the birthday thing.

I like the polls and games, and I have started my fair share, because I can get to learn about my fellow DISers without getting into too personal of information about them.

I like the easy-glance of information the polls provide to a social question, etc., and games allow us to post fun details about ourselves, for the most part, while boosting post counts, which is just harmless fun.

I had not seen this thread when I started a poll about game threads. I guess I will stop posting the poll and game threads and spend more time on some other boards; I did not realize some of my threads are so irritating.

i just skipped them till i found a thread that interests me

no big deal to click on the little # 2 and go to the next page
to find somthing i want to post on that is why all the new posts since your last visit are in bold so you don't miss anything

I dont think that in one reply to this thread that anyone has said people should stop playing games or having polls and most importantly having FUN!! its just that when you pull up the CB latley usually more than 50% of page 1 is all games and it has become soooo popular that it it could easlity maintain its own sub board

I don't think hardly anyone on here said they are irritating - just that it would be easier for gamers and non-games alike to either find the games or not have page one of CB overtaken by games by creating a subforum for games. I didn't even see polls mentioned, and there is a separate forum for those already anyway.

The games are great and have a place on here. I think many just wish it had its own place for easier navigation purposes.

I couldn't have said it better myself. When I am in a game playing mood I play game but when I am not, I notice that there are a ton of them on the page.

SOmwewhat like the political threads before the election. There were way to many on the page for my taste. I would have like a politial forum. to me the CM board should be less specific. JMHO
