Could someone please clarify? AP Questions

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy APs for our 8-day Thanksgiving trip....
(Thanks to Crazy4WDW for checking as to what's available for me on the Best Rate Website!)

Question 1- If I purchase APs online will I be given a voucher number immediately and can I then go to the AP website to see what's available for the dates I'm looking for? Or will I have to wait to receive something in the mail to get the voucher codes?

Question 2 - I'll be travelling/staying with my parents who already have unused Park Hopper passes. My parents want to charge the room on their credit card and I am to pay half of the room expense. If I book a room with an AP rate can we charge the cost to my parent's credit card, or must it be charged on mine, as I will be the AP holder?

Sorry for so many questions, but this new AP system is a little confusing to me!

here are some FAQs about the best rate program. I read that someone ordered APs then called 2 days later and was given the voucher number so they could make the reservations.

My understanding is it has to be in your name if you are going to be the AP holder. Maybe your parents can have you added to their card by phone and you will be able to use their CC.

When you book with the Best Rate, you only put down a one nights deposit on your room. Are you only getting one room to share? Once you get your AP info, you have to go to the passholders section of the walt disneyworld web site and book your room there. You as the pass holder will have to pay the deposit, but let your parents pay for the rest on their CC when you check in.

I will be there over thanksgiving too. I forgot to mention that. Where do you want to stay and what are you dates? I can look up the price of the room for you. I just was able to book with Best Rate since its only 60 days now. I wanted to stay at movies, but only sports was available for my dates.

Thanks Addicted2Disney! My daughter and I are sharing 1 room with my parents. We would like to stay at the GF from 11/20-11/28. Thank you for offering to look up the Best Rate!!! I'm anxious to hear if any are available.

I did this same thing just yesterday. I ordered online around 9am. I called the passholder number given to me on my order confirmation around 4:15 and was able to get my voucher number - so it was the same day! I was also able to cancel and re-reserve my room at the Poly with BRP for $400 less!

hiclarke - thanks for that info! I just ordered my pass this morning so I will try calling the number on my confirmation email later on today and maybe have your luck! BTW - Where do you live in NC?

Just make sure of the office hours today. I believe they close before 4, but

hiclarke - Thank you soooo much for the info. Your advice worked - I was able to call the ticketing # and was given my voucher number after ordering my AP this morning online. I got what I wanted and saved $400! Thanks again!
