as to explain to me how "renting" points works and how you can become a member in doing so. And are "renters" allowed to use the new dining plan available in 2006 too?
BTW, I have someone who can rent me 65 points at $10 per point but I'm looking at 68 points for the dates that I want, so how is the difference paid or can it be done? I just don't understand "how" it works. TIA for any info. :)

Renting doesn't make you a member. Rather, members can, if they wish, offer their allotments up for rental by others (members or otherwise). If you need 68 points for your reservation, then you'd better rent 68 points. There is no practical way to make up for three missing points, and as a non-member pulling together points from two sources is practically impossible -- at the very least, you'll need one of the two members to do the work.

The dining plan option for DVC was just announced, and details such as what you're asking for have not been pinned-down yet.

You need to go over to the Rent/Trade Board and read the FAQs at the top of the page. That is the best place to start.

These points are real estate that members have purchased from Disney. Members who choose not to use their points for one reason or another will rent a reservation to a non-member (or another DVC member) to keep from losing the use of the points since they are only good for one year unless they are banked (or borrowed the year ahead).

As a non-member, these points are worthless to you. Only a member can make a reservation or modify the reservation. The member has full control over the reservation at all times, up until the guest checks into the resort.
