- no self serve buffet stations
- limit queue and park occupancy
- washing stations
- hand sanitizer stations

i highly doubt the avid disney world visitors would comply with these policies

I would be ok with ALL of this and would comply with everything if that becomes the new reality at Disneyland California. To me the parks being open with restrictions as above is better than the parks being closed. I just want to be in the parks and escape to my happy place.

I have seen a student 3D printing project where she designed face masks in conjunction with the face shield, so that people who lip-read can see the mouth of the person speaking.

Running "warmer" is very different from having a high fever (and I believe if they do go to temp checks, they will be looking for high temps of 102 or greater, not merely elevated ones).

Whenever I read stories about places of businesses (before dine-in bans and the like occurred) taking temperatures it was measured at or around 100. Coronavirus is usually considered at 100 or greater as an indicator. I'm not confident that they would use a higher temp threshold when that hasn't been the protocol used by other places and usage of higher temps only would it end up excluding coronavirus.

I'm not opposed in theory but I def. agree with others there are other reasons one may have an elevated temp and not all are cause for concern in respects to the general public. It's a catch 22 with respects to using this as a means to bar guests but it is a tool that adds a layer of perceived preparedness and awareness the general public may respond to.

Check out google. There are whole lists of things that do in fact cause fever but aren’t contagious to others.

Another problem is folks like my Dd and
Mil. Their temp runs low. The only time Dd has ever run any fever was with Mono. Had strep throat 3 or 4 times a year until she had her to tonsils out and never ran fever. I really don’t tho k they are that rare.

Isn't the threshold for Covid19 like 100.5? That's really not a high fever at all and not hard to get to for many various reasons...even in those not ill.

If they go for a thermal scan which only detects skin temp, it's not necessarily an accurate test of fever. Women experiencing hot flashes (which can happen numerous times a day) will have sometimes a several degree higher skin temp during a flash. Core body temp wouldn't show a significant increase, but that's not what a thermal scan is picking up. Sweating/ heat can also affect skin temp but not necessarily core body temp. I'm sure there are other things that would affect skin temp but not core body temp as well. All of that combined with the various issues that will raise core body temp but aren't necessarily contagious (as mentioned, teething, inflammation, vaccines, meds, etc), makes the idea of checking temp/ predicating entrance approval to the parks on temperature seem much more problematic than it appears on the surface.

I don't know if they will implement this or not, but Disney will have to "up their game" IMO. Those line queues are awful with people lined up one right behind the other, squeezing people together (think HM), all the germs on the railings and seat belts etc. I think they will have to sanitize often and maybe do more virtual lines.

Disney MIGHT have to chsnge things like i have seen desginated boxes to stand in for social disboards and lower park capacity

Imagine everything there that you will touch that someone else has touched. Impossible to protect yourself from everything.

They will open, if it's soft-openings it will most likely be due to staffing and monetary issues more than anything. Then they will open completely and people will either feel comfortable going or they won't.

My prediction is that when Disney is up and running, people will go, vaccine or not.

I think you’re right & I think ppl will go a lot of places once they’re opened. But, I think it’s mostly b/c so many ppl are still so uninformed. I think ppl will assume it’s “safe” to go if it’s open which won’t necessarily be true for everyone. I think crowds will be lower if the borders remain closed b/c they get so many international guests.

Maybe, but I'm informed more than the usual suspect and I still plan to go May 2021 regardless of a vaccine being available.

IMO they will HAVE to not might have to. Look at all the precautions stores are taking with wiping things down. keypads are being wiped down after each use, grocery carts are being wiped etc. People are afraid to go where there are large numbers of people congregating. Disney is a hot bed for germs on a good day, and lots of people from all over the place in one area touching everything is a huge risk now. Just think of the Winnie the Pooh wall. Enough to make you want to curl up in a corner. LOL.

I cannot imagine stepping into the stretching room at haunted mansion before a vaccine or very successful treatment is available. And there are time when just walking around the park is more crowded than that room.

Disney has no way of mitigating these risks short of running the park at 10% of its normal occupancy. Too many people are infectious and completely asymptomatic for them to be able to screen carriers. If Disney opens the parks before it is safe, they will likely get sued and lose if an elderly person goes, gets this while there, and dies.

I know!! I keep cringing as I think of them saying, "step in closer" once everyone is already on top of each other.

The only ways I can think of for Disney to cut down the risk is to space out the line queues so people are not standing so close, or use virtual lines. They could also space out people in the theaters to every other seat or allowing a few seats in between families instead of filling in every seat. They could also not fill the boats to capacity for things like pirates and small world, maybe filling every other row. It would mean longer wait times though. They could also have staff wiping down railings and things like the guns on buzz after each person gets off the ride. As far as walking around the park, that gets tricky as sometimes is shoulder to shoulder.
