Couch to 5k

Okay, I'm onto W3. And the information on the cool runnings website says to:
Walk for 5 mins
Jog for 90 seconds
Walk for 90 seconds
Jog for 3 minutes
Walk for 3 minutes

That's all it says. So, do I just do this once or do I do several circuits or it or do the jog 3/walk 3 until I can't? Or do it for a total of 30 minutes? I'm just a little confused. Sorry! :(

You do it twice. :) :cheer2:

So, do the whole routine twice, or just the 3 minute jog/walk twice? :)

Thanks so much!

Perfect, thank you so much! I'm headed to the gym right now. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

Really appreciate it!!!

Monday night, I had the worst run I've ever had. A stitch in my side early on, cramps and leg pain, I felt like I couldn't catch my breath, and I felt nauseated. I had to walk the last 1-2 minutes of each 5 minute run and had to cool down much faster than normal. I'd had plenty of water, good sleep and good nutrition, so I was really worried about the cause of such a bad run.

Now I've figured out...I was getting sick! I never thought I would be happy about getting sick, but I'm just so relieved that it's not the start of something that will make running a nightmare or completely impossible. Whew! I had to downshift to slower-than-normal walking (walking only) on the treadmill tonight, and hope I'll be recovering from my sinus/respiratory infection soon.

Good luck to all the rest of you!

One week left to go. Finished week 8 tonight! Lately I've been feeling really good breathing wise. Tonight I stretched it out to 3.1 miles. My shins still get sore, not so much while I'm running, but I really feel it afterwards. I went back to using my real orthotics so hopefully that will make a difference.

That is awesome Colleen! I am so excited for you.

Thanks Taryn! I guess i should try to start running earlier in the day. I got up this morning and my right knee was killing me and so stiff. My left knee os a mess from an old soccer injury in high school. I would expect my left to bother me. Someday I'm just gonna need new knees!

Just popping in to say "hi" :)

Don't have much time to post but I do read to keep up on everyone. Still going here, finished week 4 day 2 this morning. I'd read that many people quit at week 4 or 5, and looking ahead to week 5 does seem intimidating....but I find when I do the actual runs that I can manage fine, so I should be good as long as I don't psych myself out! I get up earlier to run while my kiddos are sleeping, and to beat the heat!

This is me exactly! The more I think about it the more nervous I get. I just have to get out there and do it. I have also found that I like running first thing in the AM. It gets it done and I feel great all day.

Taryn, Love your new avatar!

Thanks! A friend made it for me. :lovestruc Here is the larger image if you want to steal it.

Cute avatar!

I just looked at room prices for the weekend of the Princess 1/2 - holy cow! I knew it was peak season, but I didn't realize how much the prices were. We always go in regular or value season plus have AP or FL resident rates. I don't know if I can stomach paying that much. Do you know of anyone that has stayed offsite and done the Princess 1/2? I wonder how much of a pain it is to stay offsite. Is it worth saving $150?

:thumbsup2 I did W5D2 today! My first mile I felt like I was laboring a little, but during the last 8 minute run (or jog, in my case) I got a good stride going. Now to not psych myself out for day 3!

During the run today, I was trying to calculate my pace per mile in my head. I guess because I was running, I didn't calculate it right and came up with a # much higher than I wanted and was so frustrated. When I got home I realized my mistake and felt much better. I'm still wanting to do better than my 12 minute pace, but I guess I'll take it. I have a problem with comparing my times with others - even if they've been running a while. I need to just focus on doing my personal best and the times will come eventually.

I am already exercising pretty regularly - but with no plan.
So, I am going to try this couch to 5k program starting this next week.
I am hoping to do the Family 5K during marathon weekend in January.
And no kidding on the room rates - :scared1:
