Couch to 5k

Thanks for the advice! Im going to look for some new running shoes this weekend! I did day 2 of week 2 today in different sneakers, and my feet hardly hurt at all! So I think the other day was definitely the shoes I wore! Today the backs of my ankles hurt, so I guess every day it will be something new hurting me!

Congrats to you guys on week 5! I hope to feel like I'm starting to get in shape by then!

It did feel good, but funnel cake is so goooood. We try to limit ourselves to only 1 per season. And at the end of the summer I HAVE to get a waffle sundae. I gotta stop thinking about all this stuff. I'm making myself hungry. I've been trying to eat better, especially snacks. I bought a big bag of grapes yesterday and DH took the whole thing to work with him. :mad:

So today I did W2D1. It felt good and I didn't notice the extra 30 seconds of running. Love my C25K app. I just let my phone tell me when to switch. Beats checking my watch all the time. I felt like I ran a little slower today, but it was hot here, even at 9:30 am when I went. This weekend is pretty busy so I'll have to really try to squeeze a run in. Keep up the good work everyone.
 
Ugh. Last night I did week 5, day 2, and it was awful. Worst run I've ever had. I expected going back after 2 weeks to be the hardest, but last night, I didn't think I would make it through the first running segment. I'm not sure whether I was dehydrated and didn't realize it or what, but I hope I don't have another ugly run like that. :headache:

It was slow, but I didn't stop.
I just may make it through the 9 weeks.

Nitro, sorry you had a bad run. I've had those too!

I haven't run in forever, just not motivated and busy.
I hope to get it in tomorrow, I'm definitely going back to week 5.
 
week 5 day 2. There were points when I wanted to give up but I finished it. I really have to distract myself to finish though. I started chanting "getting fit, thats why I do this" in my head so I would finish. It worked.

I find myself running at what I think is the same speed but not getting as far as I used to :confused3

I know what you mean about wanting to give up at times. I kept telling myself on the last run that I just had ____ many runs left in the cycle and I'd already done (however many) runs by then. Whew.

How odd that you're getting less far and running at seemingly the same speed... I suppose those are things that can be tested, but I haven't gotten to those time and distance measures yet, myself. :)
 
Can I join in? I just started last Friday and my reward will be the 5K in WDW!

I just had a baby 3 months ago and gained a lot while pregnant so I have a lot to lose. I'm hoping I can do this since I HATE running...LOL

Does anyone know of a good Droid app for this?

Jump on in! :welcome: Yes, there is a Droid app. I got the one that costs $2.99. There are a couple of free ones. But the one I got I think is the "official" C25K app. I LOVE it.:love: You just start it and it tells you when to walk and when to run. Definately get it. It will make doing the runs so much easier. You can listen to your music with it.

Last night I did w2d2. It actually felt easy. I don't know if it was because it was after dark and wasn't so stinkin' hot or just I'm getting into better shape. I think it was the cooler temp. Today was a day off, tomorrow is w2d3! We have a BBQ to go to so not sure when I'll go. I might wait till after sundown. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 90. :scared1:

I see you are in NJ, I grew up there. We moved to Ohio just 5 years ago. I miss it there :guilty:

Where in NJ did you grow up? I've always been along the shore. So psyched summer is here. I can't imagine living that far away from the ocean.

I grew up in Madison and lived in Hamilton Square the last 5 years I was in NJ. I do miss the ocean, people here don't get that.

I'll be doing a girls weekend down the shore this summer! We'll be at my family's shore house in Spring Lake. I can't wait, we did it last year and it was a blast.

Welcome aboard! I hate running, and I've been surprised at how much more "pleasant" the run/walk method has been than anything else I've tried for running exercise before.

You may want to check with your doctor to make sure of any special nutritional needs or considerations, but the apps really do help you ease into the running, regardless of your condition prior to the program. :)

The correct terminology in Andriod. Droid refers to a specific phone that uses the Andriod OS. You would want to find apps written for the Andriod OS.

If you google "C25K Pro guy hoffman" you will find both a lite(free) and pro($1.99) version of the C25K app. This is what I was going to use until I got my Garmin 305.

I grew up in Rumson and now live in Point Pleasant (the Boro). When we first got married we were near Cherry Hill and that was too far from the beach for me. Plus both our families were out this way. Girls weened at the shore sounds like a blast.

week 5 day 3 probably won't happen today. I'm coming down with something so I feel the need to rest after my shift at work today. But tomorrow, If i'm not feeling worse, I should run.

My mom is still in the hospital, her long time partner died while she was there and my cat is very, very sick. I am feeding him through a tube every 4 hours. There has been very little "me" time that has not been spent sleeping.

My plan is to re-do W6D1 today and take it slow. I'll let you know how it goes!

I also fell off the... couch... no, actually I think I went back to the couch! its hot, my feet are swelling, and I feel discouraged!
