Costco v. On-line TA

Well I Just booked our first cruise!!! for sept.25, 04 and as far as price goes:

allseas gave me the best price (and no waiting on hold like costco i waited over 30 mins. monday night) followed by mann travel and cruises, then costco ,DU. and finally AAA and DCL with the same price. so there is my 2 cents on costco. with allseas every time i called someone was always able to help me right away . I think they are the best, thanks john!!!!

I have used costco now for 4 cruises, they have the best prices, and I compare each time. You do have to do your business mon -fri, and sometimes have to hold 20 minutes, sometimes 2 minutes, it is worth it though.

I have gotten everything correct, seatings, ect. my cousin used AAA and her seatings were messed up.

I cannot say enough nice things about costco. Also, if you do find a better price elsewhere costco has no problem releasing your reservation to the cruiseline so you can transfer it. That is something travel agencies will not do.

Good Luck

I don't remember giving my membership number to Sams till I actually booked.

I used Costco for my 2003 cruise and had no problems. They took 10% off the price that I booked with Disney.

You do have to give your membership number to Costco to get a quote. I think membership to COSTCO is $45 and Sams is $35. Ballpark. I have a Costco and a Sam's nearby and shop at both. If you have a friend who belongs to Costco you can use their mem number for a quote.
When you get a quote- just so you can compare apples to apples- always get a quote that includes taxes and port charges but no transfes or insurance- than you can compare with the allseastarvael prices, DCL, DU easily.

With all the great things folks had to say about Costco, I booked with them this morning.

I was slightly dissappointed, as the cost was $200 more than what I was quoted on Tuesday. I was warned on Tues that the price could increase at any time before booking, but I didn't expect that to happen in two days.

Even with the $200 increase, they were still $250 below DCL/AAA and $150 below on-line TAs, so I booked it!

We're going on a Disney Cruise! Yeah! :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Thanks for everyone's input!

Congratulations! You will have a fantastic time!!!! :)

I used Costco for the 10day Christmas 2004 cruise. The savings were remarkable!

We booked at $8402 for 3 adults (our 18yr old son) in a cat 4 ! This was the BEst rate by far. The only lowere quote came from Mousesavers at $8995. and the Disnsy rate was over $10,000 yes we booked early and now the rates have almosted doubled!

I have called with questions and the Costco TA's were Great! and I was only on hold for 10 min

I must say you have to go where you are comfortable.
