Costco car rental

So....just joined costco last week,got in on that 55.00 deal.....mainly b/c i needed a weekend van rental,and the costco travel site beat any price I could find by 30.00- only price I could find was 206.00 for 2 days...costco travel had it at 175.00.... So I joined ,rented the van,it all went great. (Price of membership already back w/20.00 cashcard and rental). I got the van with 1/4 tank,accidentally overfilled for return,and left it dropped off with a little more than 1/2 tank.
I had thought my quote was for 175- but my finall cc charge was only 116.00!!! How did this occur? I have never rented a car before and had this happen...was it the costco discount,or maybe the gas?

I would say it had something to do with the Costco price, but when I rented during Labor day weekend my price was exactly what my Costco quote said. They don't give you credit for having more gas in the tank than what you should. I've only rented using Costco once since we just got a Costco last fall, but their rates are awesome! Congrats on the good deal.

that's what I had thought... I never had a car returned with too much gas... I am guessing the price I saw may have dropped even before I picked up,and that was what happened? Guess there is no explanation....

Two weeks ago, I rented a minivan using Costco (for our Disney trip). The deal I got was at LEAST $100 cheaper than anywhere else.
